Seals to Play Bay Area Ambassadors SundayJanuary 16, 2009
![]() The Seals will not be participating in the PDL this season, but will continue to operate with three teams. Two teams (U21 and U23) will play in the NorCal Premier League and a professional team that will only play exhibitions for one or two years before going back to a minor league which may be PDL. "The Bay Area is a tough market," stated Tom Simpson, General Manager and coach for the Seals. "Like the Frogs, we just had a tough time finding enough support. Ticket sales covered less than 5% of the expenses in 2008. While we had reasonable relationships with some of the youth clubs and had some good turnout with club fundraisers, the consistency just wasn't there. In addition, I don't believe the current PDL format is that good of a fit for college players who cannot commit to the team until too late. I think that this new amateur program will be be a better fit. We will be dedicated to their preparation for the college season, and I think it just makes better sense." SFSDC, the San Francisco Soccer Development Corporation, the parent corporation of the SF Seals has created a player representation business called SAA Pro Services and currently represent six players, announced today that Rob Gallo joined SAA as a players' agent. "Rob brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the SAA team," announced Simpson. For more information regarding SAA Pro Services, visit our website at http://saaproservices.com |
