Seals Lose to Ambassadors 0-1

January 18, 2009
It was the very first game ever played by the new NPSL team, the BayArea Ambassadors, but they managed to out play the Seals and take the win with a goal in the second half of the match, and the only goal of the game.

"We had 100 different players come to three different tryouts," said team owner, Arif Khan.  "We've got that down to about 30 players we are looking at now, and we are really pleased to have the Seals here to help us evaluate these players."   Former San Jose Earthquakes player, Joe Silvera was recently announced as the Ambassadors head coach for the 2009 season.  He will be joined by Paul McCallion, Jerry Losson, Aslam Ali and Ron Chell, the goalkeeper’s coach.

The Ambassadors had several good opportunities throughout the match, but some shots were just wide, and the Seals keeper Lewis Sweeney managed to defend the net well.  "We've got a mesh of players out here today," offered Seals GM & Head Coach Tom Simpson.  "We've got some Glenn's players, PDL Seals, and U21 players all out here today."

Joining Sweeney from last year's PDL Seals team were Shea Whelan, Shani Simpson, Peter Lovell, Mike Balogun, Steven Cordova, Richard Duru, and Rawley Masaniai.
