2007 PDL MVP Campos Signs with Earthquakes

February 11, 2009

2007 PDL MVP Pablo Campos was signed by the San Jose Earthquakes this week.  Campos played with the Fresno Fuego in 2007 (15 appearances) , and for 10 games in 2008.  He was a consistent scoring threat.  In 2007, Campos lead the entire PDL with 18 goals, and 3 assists.  This past season Campos was on a pace to exceed his 2007 numbers as he recorded 14 goals and two assists through the 10 appearances for the Fuego.

"We always had a tough time defending him," said Seal GM & Head Coach Tom Simpson.  "He would draw fouls, often earning himself a PK, and if you let down on him he could beat your defense for the score."

Campos left the Fuego this past season to play in Sweden with GAIS Göteborg of the Swedish Premier League.  There he had 7 appearances with 4 starts, and no goals.

The 26 year old player was born in Rio de Janeiro, and played college ball in the United States for Oklahoma Baptist University and Fresno Pacific University.  He was named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas NAIA Men's All-America Team.
