Masaniai has Trial with Earthquakes

June 23, 2009

Monday, June 22, Rawley Masaniai had a tryout with the San Jose Earthquakes.  Rawley has been playing for the Seals for the past four seasons and has been a standout performer as a defensive midfielder.

Rawley is also a client of SAA ProServices, the player representation agency, that was established by the Seals parent corporation, San Francisco Soccer Development Corporation.

SAA agent, Tony Alejandre, presented Earthquakes head coach, Frank Yallup, with the proposal of looking at Rawley as a central defender which Rawley played prior to joining the Seals.  The Earthquakes recently released Nick Garcia and have little depth at that position at the moment.  Yallup took the offer and had a look at Rawley yesterday.

Rawley has been participating in the Seals Summer Program in preparation for pro tryouts.  He was injured in May last year and has been in recovery over much of the past 12 months.  His form, however, has come around and the timing is right.

We wish Rawley, a Seals player, and a product of San Jose State, the best of luck.
