The Seals only played two games this past week. On Thursday, the Seals U23s played the Salinas side at Contra Costa College. Salinas fielded a strong side but the Seals managed to stay organized and patient. Frankie Beauchamp came up with two goals after managing a hat-trick on the previous Sunday against the Nor Cal Elite team from Sacramento. He now leads the Seals with 8 goals on the season, going ahead of Stevie Cordova who was on a tear until he suffered a knee injury. The Seals beat Salinas 3-1, but a missed pk and some missed one-on-ones suggested a bigger difference between the two teams.
Sunday (7/5) the Seals U20s traveled to Vacaville to face a testy Rampage team that managed to keep the Seals out of the goal for 88 minutes. Possession was highly imbalanced in favor of the Seals, but they just couldn't put anything away. However, the Rampage defense couldn't hold up in spite of a sterling performance by their goalkeeper and a feisty defense. In the last two minutes, the Rampage broke down to permit Camacho Francisco to score twice. Camacho has 6 goals for the season and is tied with Stevie Cordova in second place for the goal scoring title. Matt Lambert picked up his 6th assist for the season.
The Seals total record is 9 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie. Not bad for a team featuring a host of 17 and 18 year olds. The Seals U20s are: 5W and 2L. The Seals U23s are: 4W, 1L, 1T.
