The San Francisco Seals to Announce Their Roster on Saturday April 22nd

Bay Area Elite
SF Seals 2006 roster highlights the best Bay Area-developed soccer players

On Saturday, April 22nd, The San Francisco Seals, the Bay Area's entry in the United Soccer League's Premier Development League, will hold an “open house” event at the Golden Gate Rugby Club on Treasure Island and announce their roster for the 2006 season.  You will have the opportunity to hear about each player, and meet some of them in person.  The event will be preceded by a Seals youth exhibition game starting at about 5:00 pm.  Player announcements will be made after the youth game.

Fans, volunteers, staff, and media are invited to attend the event, and enjoy the evening.  Food and beverage will be available, a pair of season tickets will be raffled off, Seals merchandise will be on hand, and the Rugby club will extend their hospitality to the Seals and keep their bar open during our festivities there.

The Seals are anxious and proud to announce their roster for the 2006 season. Featuring 25 players from the Bay Area's elite colleges and soccer clubs, Coach Tom Simpson has put together a team designed to compete for the highest PDL honors.

"The college coaches from the Bay Area have been exceptionally helpful in assisting the formation of a very talented roster," says Simpson.   "When added to the talent from the San Francisco Glens, the final roster should represent the Bay Area well.  If this group plays as a team, they could make a run for the division title and beyond.  The “magic” that makes a group a team is what we’ll all be working for."

With players from Richmond to San Jose, the Seals offer Bay Area fans a home-grown team, well versed in Simpson's fluid, competitive philosophy of attacking soccer. As many of the players have come up through the SF Glens, their familiarity with each other and Coach Simpson’s philosophy will allow the Seals to hit the ground running when the PDL season opens in early May.

“Fluid, is a good word to describe what we are trying to accomplish on the field.  It is the by-product of an intensely focused concept of play that balances discipline with creativity”  Said Simpson.   “When we look artful, I’m elated, but if we’re artful and  lose, the art is meaningless.  It’s the art of play that is the lifeblood of the game, but it is the art of the win that rewards a team with pride, glory and a place in history.”

Join us for some food, fun and meet the staff and team, on Saturday, April 22nd at Treasure Island, and be among the first to hear who is on the roster!
