News Flash! Seals Win 2-1 over the Brigade in Bakersfield

May 27, 2006 – 10:50 PM
The San Francisco Seals won tonight 2-1, in their match against the Bakersfield Brigade.  This important win for the Seals places them in sole possession of first place with 5 games played, 12 points, and a 4-1 record.

The bid for play in the U. S. Open Cup is over however.  While this is unofficial, this writer believes they finished in fourth place behind the two qualifiers: BYU Cougars, and the Ogden Outlaws, and behind the Orange County Blue Star by one goal based on the goals scored for (the fourth tie breaker).  The teams did not play each other in the qualifiers, and both finished with 9 points, and a +2 goal differential.  The Blue Star however, scored 8 goals in their qualifying run, while the Seals scored 7.

A win in Monday's game will narrow the field chasing the Seals to the Fresno Fuego and the Blue Star who are both in second along with Monday's opponent, the Seahorses.
