The Southern Illinois Spiders Basketball Association was founded in 2018 and is a 501-(c)-(3) Not for Profit Organization with the structure consisting of a Board of Directors. The Southern Illinois Spiders Basketball Association is a community based basketball program and will strive to operate with transparency, timely communication, balanced oversight and a sustainable structure that provides a positive experience for everyone involved. The Southern Illinois Basketball Association is dedicated to the athletes, the participating families, and the entire communities to which we serve. The organization was co-founded by Collinsville High School Alums, Jeff and Julie Wilkinson.

OUR MISSION

With the goal of training athletes for premier, elite and competitive level basketball events, the Southern Illinois Spiders Basketball Association has been driven to begin developing a strong basketball program in Southern Illinois. We believe that playing basketball is an excellent avenue to teach moral principles and characteristics such as dedication, teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship.

The spider on our uniforms serves as a symbol.  Just as the spider weaves a web, so too must we weave our own lives. The spider symbol meaning here serves as a reminder that our choices construct our lives. The spider symbol meaning beckons us to be mindful of our behaviors – be smart about the life we weave for ourselves. A spider symbolizes aptitude, fate, patience, creation, enthusiasm, rebirth, protection, resourcefulness, growth, beauty, mystery, determination, manifestation, limitlessness, and exploration.

The Southern Illinois Spiders Basketball Association strives to provide individual player development and experiences that will help to develop young men physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. Participation is a privilege that carries with it responsibilities to academics, the basketball program, the community and to the athletes themselves.
