Rules of Golf Reminder
If there is a possibility that a ball may be out of bounds or lost outside of a water hazard, to save time, the player should play another ball provisionally as near as possible from the spot at which the original ball was played; counting both strokes and adding a penalty stroke to your score for the hole. The player must inform her opponent that she intends to play a provisional ball, and she must play it before she begins to search for the original ball. If the provisional ball ends up being used, the player counts both strokes and adds a penalty stroke for the hole.
Greens in Regulation (September 6)
Keep track of the number of strokes it takes to make it to the green. Reaching the green in regulation is par minus 2. If you reach the green in regulation, award yourself two points. If you reach the green in regulation + 1, award yourself one point. Record your points in the score card for each hole. Separate your score on the hole with the points you gained (ex. 5/2 means 5 on the hole and reached the green in regulation)
Point Accumulation (September 13)
Points will be accumulated based on the scores for each hole. Points will be allotted as follows:
Birdie = 5 points
Par = 4 points
Bogey = 3 points
Double bogey = 2 points
Score 3 or 4 over par = 1 point
Tournament directors will tally your points. Just record your score.
Snakes in the Grass (September 20)
Snakes are scary, especially when they represent a 3-putt. For this tournament, each time you make a 3-putt, you earn a -1, so a tally is kept during the round. But you have the opportunity to redeem yourself by staying in the grass. For each fairway you reach on your drive, you earn +1. Par 3s: Just total your score for the par 3s. Anyone scoring less than 6 for the hole earns an extra point.
Keep your tally for the tournament and place your total next to your score.
2 Person T&F (September 27)
Choose a partner for this tournament. The "T" and "F" in a T and F tournament refers to the first letter of the holes on the course (e.g., Three, Four, etc.). With the 2-person team, one person’s scores are used on the “t” and “f” holes. The other partner’s scores are used for the remaining holes. There are five holes beginning with "t" or "f" on the back nine (10, 12, 13, 14, 15). The “t” and “f” player will be assigned by alphabetical order (first name). For example, if Betty and Rhonda are partners, Betty would be the “t” and “f” player.
