Boys Majors Games on Monday, May 13 CANCELLED
May 13, 2013

Due to unseasonably cold weather, games in the Boys majors Divisions have been cancelled on Monday, May 13.

Baseball & Softball Season Information

All Teams in Starters, Boys Minors, Boys Majors, Girls Minors, Ponytails, and Girls Seniors should have been contacted.  If players in this division have not yet been contacted, now is the time to email Mike Dashineau at dash3640@yahoo.com! Our website,      www.LewPortSports.com will soon be updated with Game Schedules, Rosters, and Standings.

All teams have coaches, players in Seniors Divisions should be receiving calls shortly.

Seniors Teams game schedules do not start until after High School Spring sports have completed, usually on or around June 1.  Teams in Boys Seniors (13-15) and Girls Seniors (12-14) have yet to assemble for practices.

Uniforms will be handed out to teams this week (May 6-10) as they become available.  Your coach will be giving you a shirt, pants (or shorts) socks and a hat.  All coaches will line up their teams biggest to smallest and give out uniforms accordingly.  Your uniform will NOT BE A PERFECT FIT.  Pants are returned and reused every year.  It is recommended that you purchase new, gray pants for the year at any sporting goods store (Laux, Stuart Sports) or even Department Store (Target, Walmart), since used pants can often be stained.

OPENING DAY is Saturday, May 11.  Please have your child at Lewiston Red Brick School at 11:30AM.  There will be league officials with directions for parents on how to find their team, particularly Tee Ball teams who may be meeting for the first time.

The Parade begins at noon, and we will march down Center St. to Academy Park, where there will be a brief introduction of teams and sponsors, free hot dogs, and bounce houses and obstacle courses for the kids until 2:30PM.  We hope you can bring out the entire family for a fun day for everybody before the season begins!

Rainouts during the season are unfortunately part of baseball.  If a day is rained out, the recreation Department will update our website, www.LewPortSports.com, and contact all of the coaches, who will then notify the team.  Decisions on rainouts are made at 4:50PM. Please do not call Town Hall, as 600 participants calling will clog vital phone lines.

Picture Day is Saturday, June 8th at Pletcher Road Park.  Coaches will have order forms for this important date the week of the event.  Times for pictures are staggered by division throughout the morning, starting at 9AM for the little guys and girls, and continuing until about 12:30PM for the older kids.

Lewiston Baseball & Softball depends on funding from the Town of Lewiston Recreation Department but FUNCTIONS on volunteers and services provided by our citizens in the community.  If you haven’t signed up to be a coach, please consider signing up to volunteer in the concession stand, or during the June and July Weekend Baseball and Softball Tournaments.  Game Officials and Scorekeepers are ALWAYS needed, as we bring in over 250 teams from all over the country to compete here in Lewiston.  To volunteer even an hour, please email Mike at dash3640@yahoo.com

Closing Picnic & Awards Ceremony is set for Wednesday, August 7.  At the picnic, which is provided by the Town of Lewiston, kids will have hamburgers and Hot Dogs, entertainment, and fun bounce houses and obstacle courses.  All participants of Lewiston Baseball in non-Travel Divisions are given a reward, and league champion given special trophies at this picnic.  We also honor our neighborhood roots by making this picnic a “Bring a Dish to Pass” event, and in the past our friends, families and players get to enjoy AWESOME Lewiston home recipes.

Umpires in the league are all former or current Lewiston Baseball / Softball Players.  They are kids, and not expected to be perfect, just respectful and as knowledgeable of the rules as possible.  Each Umpire wears a shirt dedicated to Jonathon “JMill” Miller, an impressive young man and umpire taken away too soon.  On their shirts is the slogan “LBFODAT”, which stands for JMill’s motto, “Live by Faith, One Day at a Time”.

The Lewiston Civic / Recreation Center has heard from the public in public forums.  As planning progresses, the citizens of Lewiston will soon be asked to vote on this measure.  To make your voice heard, please visit the website at:

ICE RINK SURVEY
Please take our survey by clicking on "Ice Rink Survey" in the upper right hand side of the site, under "Online Forms". We need your input to help decide whether to improve and continue the rink or not for future years.

The Town of Lewiston Recreation Department enjoyed bringing the rink to the public and being able to work with so many wonderful families.

The Lewiston Town Board would also like to thank Fox Fence for donating their time, labor and material and putting up the neccessary fencing. Fox Fence has alsways been community minded and willing to help this Town, and for that we are appreciative.

The Town of Lewiston would also like to thank R.B U'Ren Equipment for their outstanding services and donations. R.B. U'Ren, and particularly John Tiedemann, where on call 24 hours a day and assisted us immensely with the layout and operation of the rink.

Lewiston & Porter Youth Baseball needs your help!
Our teams need sponsors! It is an age-old tradition in Youth Baseball that teams are sponsored by local businesses. Who can forget "Chico's Bail Bonds" from the classic Bad New Bears movies?! In 2011, we need your business to put their own stamp on a team.
Team sponsorship is a great way for your company to participate in Youth Sports, and is tax deductible. Your business name will be placed on a youth league team and mentioned in any team newspaper articles. You will also receive a plaque at the end of the year with your team picture as a thanks for your help.

In 2011, L & P Baseball is also allowing your business to Advertise with Lewiston Youth Sports in two new ways.

Your business can now purchase a internet Web Banner on THIS site to promote your business year round. There are two sizes of advertisements. A large headline banner, which runs at the very top of this page, and a smaller sidebar graphic. We will put your company logo, message, or slogan on the banner and link your banner to your website. This website has averaged about 35,000 hits per year, and your banner will stay up for one whole year.

We are also introducing Home Run Fence Advertising in 2011. A classic Youth Baseball sponsorship, put a 3' x 4' or a 4' x 8' advertisement on one of our outfield fences for the entire season. Provide us with a company logo, slogan or message we will take care of the rest!

Our information flyer can be downloaded by 'clicking' on the link.

THANK YOU for your generous contributions to a great league!
