AGM - June 15/22

The Bancroft Jets Girls Hockey Association AGM will be held on June 15/26 at 7:00 pm.
Location: North Hastings Community Centre.

There will be Board Position vacancies if anyone is interested in volunteering their time to our girls and the Association. Anyone is welcome to attend and feel free to invite any girls/parents interested in girls hockey.

The BJGHA is holding our annual Tryouts for only U13 and U18 teams this year.  The tryout times are as follows:

Saturday September 18, 2021
Peewee - 5:00 - 6:00
Midget - 6:00 - 7:00

Sunday September 19, 2021
Peewee - 3:00 - 4:00
Midget - 4:00 - 5:00

Since tryouts are only being held for U13 and U18 the players from U11 are welcome to tryout for the U13 team and players from U15 are welcome to tryout for U18.

The BJGHA held a skate last weekend to both try to tally the number of players we have for our teams and also to find out if new girls are interested in playing on a BJGHA team.  Our executive has been working very hard to communicate with parents to see if there are enough girls to form a couple of teams.  We believe if all the girls who have played on a BJGHA team in the past and have shown interest come out that we should be able to create both Peewee and Midget teams.  This may involve some younger girls playing up at a higher age group.

As part of this Tryout process we are asking all interested players to come out.  Our BJGHA President Paul Hedley plans to talk with the parents during the Tryouts to communicate the options our executive have to offer if there are not enough players who want to commit to a complete season.  If we don't have enough players for a league team, there are other options we may be able to offer including player development.

If you have any questions please call Paul Hedley @ 416 278-9042 or email at pauldhedley@gmail.com
Thanks,
Paul

Coaching Applications - Due June 5/21

The BJGHA is now accepting coaching applications for the 2021-22 season.  We are accepting applications for Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget age groups.  The 2020-21 season was very challenging due to COVID-19 restrictions and the OWHA has not committed to a full season of 'normal' hockey but is preparing for as normal a season as possible.  Next season could be anything from a normal competitive season in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League to reduced 'extended group play' similar to this past season to an in-house Bancroft league.  This will not be determined until later summer or we hear more from the OWHA.  The BJGHA would like to prepare for the 2021-22 hockey season with coaches selected for each age group.  Without knowing how many teams the BJGHA will be able to support and what format our hockey season will take, we would like to be as prepared as possible for next season. Applications are due no later than June 5/21.

Please feel free to contact Paul Hedley (President BJGHA) @ 416-278-9042 With any questions.

Please submit coaching applications to bancroftjetsgirls@gmail.com

Thank you,
Paul Hedley

Hockey Update

The BJGHA is currently working with the OWHA to get approval for a our plan to return to hockey.  Our current plan is to start on ice development in 2 local groups Atom/Peewee and Bantam/Midget twice a week through the end of October.  In the November time frame we plan to start extended group play (planned 4on4 but could be 3on3) once a week plus a weekly practice.  The process with the OWHA has been initiated and we expect to be on the ice within a week or 2.  In addition to getting approval from the OWHA the BJGHA has developed modified registration fees for this season.  We have split the registration fees into 3 pieces, Oct-Nov, Nov-Dec and Jan-Mar.  We have done this under instruction of the OWHA to be adaptable to change. Since we are uncertain of how the OWHA restrictions will change, we feel this will allow us to adapt to change.  This should help remove your concerns of paying for a full season in case there is a shut-down.  The expectation of the BJGHA is that you pay for a session at a time.  If you decide not to play for a session you don't pay any registration fee.  If you start a session you are expected to pay for the full session.  If there is an exceptional reason for leaving a session the BJGHA executive will accept requests for the exception and make a decision on how to deal with it on a per request basis.  If the OWHA shuts down the season a refund for the current session will be provided.

The BJGHA registration fees for this season are as follows.  It is possible these could change as we move forward, but this is our planned registration fees:

  Registration Fee
Oct-Nov $110
Nov-Dec $150
Jan-Mar $200
Total $460

As part of the BJGHA return to hockey we would like you to start the registration process.  The OWHA has changed their registration to be completely online this year.  We would like you to follow the below instructions for both players and coaching\bench staff to register with the OWHA.  Please start this registration process now!  When the BJGHA gets approval to return to play from the OWHA we will send communications to you all regarding paying the registration fees.
