Ron Patrick & Brevard Team Sports eliminate Red Stockings

July 22, 2010

Brevard Team Sports and Their ace workhorse Ron Patrick eliminate the Red Stockings with a 12-2 win Wednesday night. Red Stockings could not figure Patrick out and he ultimately beat them twice and knocked them out of the playoffs.
What looked like a strong Red Stockings squad at the beginning of the season, they couldn't overcome poor hitting with runners in scoring position the second half of the season! Ernie Bianco took the mound Wednesday and couldn't find a groove either and gave up three triple to Gary Benton who led the way for Team Sports. Bianco gave up more earn runs in this outing than he gave up all year. Mike Rein replaced him in the 5th inning and held Team Sports to 3 runs over the next three innings.
Hank Dinenno and Mike Neal led the Red Stockings offense with two hits a piece.

Rayner Backs Guarantee, Red Stockings Win 6-1

July 21, 2010

Larry Rayner gave his best impression of Joe "Willie" Namath On Tuesday night after guaranteeing a victory to coach Bianco over the phone On Sunday. He backed up his words just like "Broadway Joe" with a complete game victory Tuesday night against the Space Coast Astros and a much anticipated rematch against a Brevard Team Sports team that's come on strong as of late.
Rayner had some help though, The Red Stockings bats woke up and knocked out the Astros ace after 3 innings. Leading the way was Steve Scott going 3 for 4 with a mammoth double off the left-center field fence in the 7th inning. Cole Weaver occupying the lead-off spot went 2 for 4 and Tim Springstroh went 2 for 4 as well. Hank Dinenno found his stroke going 1 for 4 with a double, 1 rbi and another laser shot that was a questionable catch in leftfield. Jim Meyer jumped in the action as well with a rbi single in the 5th inning!
The defense played solid and it was a clean game all around for the red Stockings who have battled all year through injuries and late line-up scratches.
They play again tonight at Palm Bay Regional Park @ 7:15 against Brevard Team Sports and Ernie Bianco will take the mound for the rematch of game 1.

Tough Night, Red Stockings lose 4-3!!!!

July 16, 2010

More details to come

Rayner No-Show, but it did Rein down on the Astros!!!!!

July 10, 2010

Red Stockings finally win close game 2-1 in 9 innings.

The Red Stockings emotions were high on this night with the departure of last year's team MVP Shane Romine to the Kentucky league. The Red Stockings wanted to send him off with a win and have a little confidence builder going into the playoffs.
Coach Ernie Bianco used Mike Rein sparingly throughout the season trying to build his arm strength up for the end of the season. He might of under estimated his elder pitcher as Rein shut down the Space Coast Astros and their Ace pitcher in 9 innings worth of work in a 2-1 win Friday night at Rockledge Park.
Rein pitched a three hitter striking out six and baffled the Astros hitters all night. The Astros ace held the Red Stockings at bay most of the game, but the Beef O' Brady's squad did manage five hits and some good at bats during the game. Two of those at bats were Hank Dinenno's lead-off double and Mark Cronan's single to right field in the bottom of the 7th to score Dinenno to tie the game at 1-1.
The game went into the bottom of the 9th with the Astros replacing their ace on the mound with BJ White. White then walked the bases loaded with with one out. Jim Meyer laid down a squeeze bunt to score Kevin Scauzillo to win the game sending off a much needed Red Stockings celebration.

Next Game: Playoffs, did you say Playoffs; Thursday night at Palm Bay Regional Park. More details to come concerning Thursday's Playoff game!

Americans Beat Red Stockings 4-1, Losing streak hits four games!

July 9, 2010

Americans Beat Red Stockings 4-1, losing streak hits four games!

I don't think on paper this is what the Beef O' Brady's squad planned when the season started. The Red Stockings bats are non-existent. Mike Neal and Nate Terryn had the only hits in a game that was 2-1 going into the sixth inning.
On a positive note, Steve Scott pitched three solid innings trying build up arm strength going into the playoffs. Ernie Bianco relieved Scott in the 4th inning and looked sharp in his tune-up appearance before the playoffs. Bianco yielded No hits and struck four Americans in two innings worth of work!

Brevard Team Sports down Slumping Red Stockings 6-1

July 3, 2010

Tony Burnham pitched six strong innings for the Red Stockings Friday night, but the Stockings bats are still silent! Burnham pitched a solid six innings, striking out nine on five hits in a tune-up start before the playoffs. Tim Armenta tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning with a rbi single and that's all the offense the Stockings could generate. Nate Terryn continued a nice season going 2 for 2 at the plate to lead the slumping Beef O' Brady's squad.

Red Stockings lose extra inning game AGAIN 5-4!!!!

June 25, 2010

Red Stockings playing short handed, lose extra inning game AGAIN 5-4 to the Space Coast Astros!!!!

Despite three last minute lineup changes and out hitting the Astros 12-10 couldn't capitalize on their opportunities and lose another tough game.
With the Red Stocking down 4-3 in the top of the 7th, Kevin Scauzillo led the inning off with a big triple to left field and later scored on a game tying single by Ernie Bianco.
Larry Rayner pitched deep into the game and left the game after the 7th inning with the score tied 4-4. Ernie Bianco came in relief in the 8th inning, but gave up a walk off double in the bottom off the 9th inning to take the loss on the mound.
Steve Scott led the Red stockings offense with three hits and three rbi's. Kevin Scauzillo also had a three hit night and Tim Springstroh continued his nice season adding two hits for the red Stockings.

Next Game: Friday July 2nd @ 7:00 at Rockldge Park vs Brevard Team Sports!

Red Stockings lose heartbreaker in 10 innings!

June 20, 2010

The Red Stockings lose a heartbreaker 7-6 on questionable balk call in the top of the 10th inning!

Shane Romine relieved Mike Neal in the first inning on the mound who left the game with an elbow injury after giving up two runs on four walks and only one hit. Ernie Bianco started the second inning, but a costly error which would of ended the inning led to three Maniac runs. Bianco shut down the Maniacs the next three innings and left with a 6-5 lead. Mike Reign started the 6th inning on the hill and gave up a run on a soft liner to right field which tied game at 6-6. Steve Scott relieved Reign in the 7th and pitched no-hit ball thru 4 innings. The winning run came on a questionable balk call in the top of the 10th inning that the Red Stocking never recovered from.
Mike Neal despite an elbow injury led the Red Stockings offense with two hits including a double and a rbi.

Next Game: Thursday June 24th vs Astros at Palm Bay Regional Park @ 7:15.

Great Scott, Red Stockings Rollover Hurricane Grill 12-6!

June 19, 2010

Red Stockings Rollover Hurricane Grill 12-6!

Tim Springstroh continued his hot hitting going 3 for 3 and 2 rbi's at the plate for the Stockings. Tim Armenta and Shane Romine both collected two hits as well to pace the Red Stockings offense.
The biggest news of the evening is the signing of free agent Steve Scott. Scott started his Red Stocking career with a bang, hitting a 2-run homerun in his first at bat to ignite a offense that's been stagnant at times! Also joining the club on this night, was Tony Burnham the hard throwing righty out of Orlando. Burnham & Scott add much needed pitching depth to a staff that has been riddled with injuries during the season!
Cole Weaver overcame a rocky first inning to earn his third victory of the season on the mound for the Red Stockings.

Maniacs sink Red Stockings 7-0.... On a night Ernie Bianco played his 121st consecutive Hobbs League game (unofficial league record). He went the distance striking out 4, but the offense provided No spark. Bianco gave up 7 runs, 4 earned thru six inning of work. The highlight of the evening though, was the Red Stockings bats finally woke-up this season pounding out 14 hits against three different Americans pitchers. Tim Springstroh and Shane Romine led the way collecting five hits & five RBI's between them. Romine had the big one of the evening though. With the score tied 6-6 in the top of 3rd inning, Romine crushed a three-run homer to leftfield to put the Red Stockings up 9-6 and for good. Also chipping at the plate was the hot bat of Hank Dinenno going 2 for 4 & 2 RBI's, Nate Terryn went 2 for 4 and Cole "Dream" Weaver led off the top of the 6th with a Triple down the rightfield line who later scored adding a much needed insurance run for the Stockings!
