10U Lions Slugfest Runner up & MABA Regular Season Champs!

June 14, 2021

Congratulations to our 10U Lions! Runner up in the Silver Star Bracket of the Armed Forces Slugfest this past weekend. 

On top of that, they clinched the regular season Championship in the MABA 10U division last week! 

Great job Lions!!!!

We're happy to announce our 2021 Summer Bash Baseball tournament! We will be hosing our annual Div2/Rec All star tournament the weekend of July 9th -July 11th, 2021 at our wonderful Roaring Run and Deerpark complexes.  Six team maximum in the 12U Travel and Rec Divisions and a 10 team maximum in the 13U Travel only division.  Hope to see you there!

A new date will be announced in the coming days.


Starting Saturday 1/2/21  and ending Sunday 3/14/21 here is the Indoor Training Schedule:

10U- O’Connor- Thursdays 5:30- 7:30 PM

11U-Sullivan: Alternating Tuesdays 7:30-9:30 pm

12U-Charlton- Saturdays 12-2, Wednesdays 7-9 pm

14U-Greco: Tuesdays 5:30-7:30, Thursdays 7:30-9:30 pm

JV- Reinke- Sundays 10:30-12:30 pm

Delgado (Catcher's Clinics): Sundays 12:30- 2 pm

Take a night off from cooking and support our 12U Lions with their trip to Cooperstown!  Dine in or carry out from Texas Roadhouse in Westminster on Tuesday 9/22/20- 10% of the proceeds will go towards supporting the team.


Updated COVID Procedures for 2020 Tryouts

August 8, 2020

In light of new guidance from the Carroll County Department of Health, the following procedures are in effect immediately for our travel baseball program during our tryouts:

  • Spectators will be required to wear masks while at the complex.  If spectators don’t want to wear masks, they must wait in their vehicles.  This is non-negotiable.
  • Players and coaches will be required to wear masks on the way in/out of the fields and while in the dugouts.  It is suggested (but not required) that they wear it out in the field of play.  Coaches will be required to wear masks whenever they cannot physically distance from players.
  • We will have them space their equipment out 6’ apart along the fence line and also use hand sanitizer on the way in/out of the tryout and encourage social distancing as much as possible (ie spread them out on the field when hitting ground balls/fly balls)

We have been given the go-ahead by Carroll County Rec and parks to resume customary baseball activities.  Full practices and games are now permitted with spectators and players following social distancing guidelines.

We have been given clearance by Carroll County Recreation and Parks to resume some baseball related activities.  We've had a coaches meeting to orient them on our Finksburg Baseball procedures and they are in the process of completing their mandated COVID-19 training.  You should have already received information from your coaches regarding our protocols, including the requirement to sign the Finksburg Baseball COVID-19 waiver.  In the coming days as we finalize schedules you should be receiving additional information from your coaches as to when your team will be resuming practices.  Please be safe and we look forward to seeing you on the fields!

ALL FINKSBURG LIONS TRAVEL BASEBALL ACTIVITES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL AT LEAST June 30th based on the guidelines provided by Carroll County Department of Recreation and parks. 

This includes all practices, scrimmages, tournaments, games, workouts, etc.   

We hope that through this tumultuous times, you're able to spend some quality time with your families


Both of our Skills clinics will be rescheduled to a future date once we're allowed back on our fields.

Congratulations to our 15U Lions for being runner up in the Smithsburg Sluggers tournament in which the boys went 2-1-1,  Nice job Lions! 


Congratulations to our Varsity Tournament Team!

Our Finksburg Lions Varsity Tournament team finished 2nd in the Essex Labor Day tournament 17U bracket.   The Lions went 1-1 on Saturday during bracket play securing the 6th seed. They then knocked out the 3 seed 11-0 and 2 seed , ending in a championship game defeat 11-10 in a close final against Potters Pirates.  Nice job Lions!


Congratulations to the Finksburg Tournament only teams for participating in Showcase tournaments in Frederick, University of Maryland and the All Star Baseball Academy!

Congratulations to our 13U Lions- they are the 2019 MABA Piedmont Division End of Season Tournament Champions!  Congratulations Boys!

 


Congratulations to coach Walker's JV Tournament Only Team.  They made it to the Championship game and finished in 2nd place at the AYRA High Heat Tournament. 

 

The team went 1-1 on Saturday and captured the 3 seed.  They finished 2-1 on Sunday and finished playing at 10pm!

 

CONGRATULATIONS!!


 

Congratulations to the Varsity tournament team for finishing as the runner- up in the Essex Father's Day tournament!  The boys had a great run  beating the  Potomac valley outlaws 8-7, West Inverness 15-2, but coming up just a bit short in the championship vs the Baltimore Rattlers 2-1.  

 

 

 

 

 


2019 Finksburg Baseball & Softball Scholarship Recipients

Announcing our 2019 Finksburg Baseball and Softball Outstanding Achievement Scholarship winners!!

Devin Jones, graduating from Westminster High School and heading to Elizabethtown College in PA, 11yrs in the program, and Ben Morrison, headed to University of MD, graduating from Franklin High School, 9yrs in the program. 

We are happy to give each of them $500 towards their tuition.  I'd also like to thank the Roaring Run Lions Club, who, without their support, none of this would have been possible.

Congratulations, Devin and Ben, you represent our program well, and have earned your awards.

Congratulations to the 14U Lions for being the Runner Up in the In The Dirt tournament held in Frederick MD April 12-14th.  Way to go Lions!


 We are proud to announce that starting in 2019, Finksburg Baseball & Softball is offering a scholarship for graduating seniors who have participated in our program, at any level.  We have set up funding for $1000 in scholarship money to be awarded each year forward. We would like to thank the Roaring Run Lions Club for their support with implementation.  In the handouts section of the website, you will find the application and the criteria.  We look forward to seeing our players moving on after high school.  Please spread the word to any seniors who have been involved in any form of Finksburg Baseball or Lady Lions Softball.

16U Lions win the "Battle of the Burgh"

After losing the first two games on Friday, the 16U Lions battle back to win the "Battle of the Burgh" in Pittsburgh PA.

The rise to the top started on Saturday with a 6-0 win over the South Hill Devil Dawgs. In game 2 the Lions won big over Renegades Black 9-1. The final seeding came down to runs allowed and the Lions moved into the 4th seed to play in the finals on Sunday.

Sunday Details

A Four RBI Day for Max Holzman Seals the Deal in the Lions- Varsity (16U)'s Victory Over #1 seed Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs to move on to the championship game.

Max Holzman was an RBI machine on Sunday, driving in four on two hits to lead Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) past Pittsburg Diamond Dawgs 13-2 on Sunday. Holzman drove in runs on a double in the fourth and a triple in the seventh.

Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs got things moving in the first inning. An error scored one run for Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs.

Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Ray Woodward singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Erick Stranko doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) notched four runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) was led by Holzman, AJ Delgado, and Woodward, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Adam McCartan got the start for Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U). He allowed three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking one.

Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) collected 14 hits on the day. Woodward, Holzman, Jeremy Chesebrough, Stranko, and Ryan Kilchenstein all managed multiple hits for Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U). Kilchenstein, Stranko, Chesebrough, Holzman, and Woodward each managed two hits to lead Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U). Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Matt Annulis led the way with two.

 

Championship Game

 

Lions- Varsity (16U) was victorious over South Hills Devil Dogs, 6-1

They got things moving in the first inning, when Erick Stranko grounded out, scoring one run.

South Hills Devil Dogs knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning, when South Hills Devil Dogs scored one run on a stolen base.

Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Ryan Kilchenstein doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

In the fourth inning Matt Reynolds drew a walk and scored after a stolen base. He was move around by AJ Delgado and Matt Annulis got the RBI.

Ben Morrison led things off on the mound for Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U). He surrendered one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out two.

Kilchenstein, Mike DeGirolamo, and Max Holzman each collected one hit to lead Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U). Finksburg Baseball Lions- Varsity (16U) was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Stranko had the most chances in the field with five.


Lions 13U Successful at HCYP Summer Clash

The Lions 13U had a tough first day but end with a win in the consolation bracket. The lions  won 10 to 8 against Dig In baseball. They were down 8 to 7 and came back in the last inning with 3 to take the win.
