Age Groups

Grizzly Girls Youth Lacrosse follows the below age group/grade criteria which is also followed by our Rec league competition:

Mini Stix - K,1st,2nd grades - short field
Youth (U11) - 3rd,4th grades - short field
Middle School Rec 5/6 (U13) - 5th,6th grades - full field
Middle School Rec 7/8 (U15)- 7th,8th grades
*Spring Junior Select - 5th,6th grades
*Spring Senior Select - 7th,8th grades
Spring Junior and Senior Select - SPRING SEASON ONLY are competitive teams where tryouts are held and teams are selected based on coaches evaluation.  The top middle school players will be selected for Sr and Jr Select teams.

On some occasions based on experience and other factors, we do allow some players at the highest grade of their age group to move up to the next age group. Example: an experienced 6th grader may be allowed to play U15. However, it is our normal practice to NOT allow players below the highest grade to move up to the next age group. So, a 2nd grader may not play U11, a 4th grader may not play U13, and a 6th grader may not play U15. We may allow these moves on very special circumstances if there is a shortage of players in that age group or if there is a need at goalie. This is a very important practice that is best for the development of our players and the integrity of our recreational lacrosse organization. All requested moves up must be approved by the GGYL Board.

Final team rosters are announced after first 2 weeks of practice.

 Location

The Grizzly Girls Youth teams practice and play home games at Cherokee Veterans Park in Macedonia.
