Week of 4/7 Track Events

Tuesday, April 8th Tri Meet with Hayes, Ben Logan, and Lima Central Catholic.

Great Job last night.  We will try to have results posted on here as soon as we get them from Ben Logan.

Unofficial score

Boys - Ben Logan 77, Hayes 60, Lima Central Catholic 34.

Girls - Ben Logan 79, Delaware Hayes 50, Lima Central Catholic 39.

Saturday, April 12th @Red Edwards Golden Eagle Relays. - 9:30am. at Big Walnut.

Bus leaves at 8:00 am  - home around 5:00 pm.

This is a relay meet.  I will try to get a more detailed schedule out later this week.  Generally the field events start at 9:30 then the 4x1600 m relay is somewhere between 11:30 - 12:00 followed by a break.  The track events usually start around 12 - 12:30.  I will get the schedule out asap.

Also a reminder.  We expect all athletes to ride the bus to and from the meets and stay for the entire meet.  This is a team sport.  Everyone has homework and busy schedules.  If you are not warming up, racing, or cooling down you should be encouraging your teammates who are competing.

2014 Track and Field Parent Meeting

The parent meeting was last night.  Some highlights of the agenda were:

Andy Graham - Throwers - 614-946-8514

Greg White - Jumps - 740-225-0325

Sean Patrick - Sprinters - 740-815-2542

Jim Bibler - Distance - 740-815-7119

Bellefountaine meets looks like it could be on a Thursday night, the next day is Good Friday.  We are checking on it.  We are planning on it being Thursday, April 17th as listed unless we hear otherwise.

We presented expectations for all track athletes.

We expect athletes to ride the bus to and from all meets, to stay for the duration of the meet, to be a good representative of their school, themselves and their family.  We expect each athlete to honor their committment to the team and to be a good student.  This takes good time management to be able to handle being a student and an athlete.

We expect athletes to travel in Pacers gear.  You can purchase team gear on the Ares site. We would like everyone to have a warmup.  This can be a warmup purchased in the past for track or cross country or you can borrow one that we have.

The team store is open until March 24th.  The link to the store is just below here on the website.

We have sign up lists for bingo (I think its full!!) for June 14th, we need volunteers for our home meet on 4/29 vs. Orange.  We also need volunteers to work events at the OCC meet and the District meet.

We have established requirements to earn a letter in track and field and to be part of a relay team.  Look for that info to be posted on the website soon.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Ask Keith

I wanted to officially let everyone know about a resource we have. Keith Flint (father of Hayes alum runner Zach Flint) has degrees in exercise physiology. He is also a very experienced runner. If you have any questions about anything running related he is a great resource to contact. His email address is

From 30:50 to 17:41
Read how Kayla Scott of Canal Winchester went from being the slowest runner on the team as a freshman to one of the favorites at the state meet.

Weather and Practice
Generally I never cancel practice because of weather issues. We will never run outside in thunderstorms with lightning, but we will meet for our core workout and stretching and have a team meeting. Our meets could be in heat, rain, mud, wind, snow, sleet, etc, so there is some benefit to practicing in these different weather conditions as long as it is safe. If the conditions are unsafe for running outside or if it is raining at the beginning of practice, we will meet in the old gym for the start of practice. Practice might be a bit shorter if conditions are severe outside. Always check here just in case for the status of practice.
