BOYS OF SUMMER REGISTRATION MEETING SET FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 17 AT 7:30 PM @ SUFFOLK CC BRENTWOOD
January 6, 2017 – 11:00 AM
The Boys of Summer registration meeting for the summer of 2017 is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17 at 7:30pm in the Lecture Hall on the Suffolk CCC Brentwood campus. We have some exciting news to share with you for 2017 and we will have giveaways for some lucky managers and coaches in attendance. We've added divisions, events, and even more fields. This meeting is critical to implement new ideas and improve the BOS. We need your feedback. We experienced tremendous growth in 2015 and 2016 and want to make sure we're meeting your needs.
There has been an overwhelming response to register for this summer league for all ages 10 through 18. A $500 deposit will hold your spot in our National [most competitive] or American Divisions. The floor will be open for discussion on everything from national and local tournaments, umpires, fields, all-star games and dates, playoff schedules, Citifield games, and Ducks Stadium games. In addition to bringing your deposit, please fill out the 2017 Online Team Registration Form beforehand as well.
The Boys of Summer is proud to announce that we will run our 3rd Annual Nassau County Parks and Recreation Tournament on Memorial Day weekend. Registration forms for that and our other BOS tournaments, Port Jeff Sports Father's Day, St. Charles July 4th Blast, Baseball Bargains Labor Day tournament, and Columbus Day are now available online using the links on the front page of the website.
Order forms for baseballs can be found here. The league is going back to the NJCAA Spalding baseball this summer. If you have Rawlings baseballs from 2016 you can use them as well.
We are excited about the new Sal Agostinelli Professional Evaluation Showcase done by professional major league scouts which is designed to break down the player in every category to find the right fit for college. That tournament for players 16U will run August 23-27.
We have added more fields in Nassau County and we are excited to continue in our relationships with the other venue owners around Long Island.
We also expect to expand our college division. Single players can now register for the college division, which is college only and incoming freshman players. Please email us at email@example.com with your name, contact information and get on our free agent list for college players. Our 14-team college division will be expanded to 16. The fee for college players will be $625 for the season which includes everything from uniforms, umpires fees to baseballs and league registration.
If you have an announcement for tryouts or a clinic you're running in an academy please send it to us to be posted. It's free.
Looking forward to seeing everyone,
Gregg Sarra Jr.

NASSAU COUNTY PARKS AND LOCUST AVE -- IMPORTANT INFORMATION!
September 10, 2016
If you are playing games at any of the Nassau County Parks, Wantagh, Eisenhower, Cantiague and Bay, there is a $10 parking fee imposed by Nassau County for all non-residents. This has nothing to do with Boys of Summer. This is has been in effect for the past two years at all of these venues during tournaments and league play so please be advised that there is a fee for all non-residents. Thank you for your cooperation.
Additionally, all baseball games played this fall at Locust Avenue in Bohemia require that all players and parents park in the Bosti parking area. There is congestion down at the complex with football also being played so please park in the Bosti lot to alleviate the parking issue. From Sunrise Highway, take Locust Avenue 1/4 mile to first stop sign and make a left onto Bourne Avenue. You can park along street or make a right into Bosti Elementary School lot on right. There are two gates to enter the field one in front and one in the back.
COACHES HELMETS AND PROPER ATTIRE
July 1, 2016 – 09:00 AM
ATTENTION ALL MANAGERS AND COACHES
We would like to reiterate what has been said at every league meeting in 2016. Coaches must wear coaching helmets for safety reasons. You will not be permitted to coach on the bases if you do not wear a coaching helmet. Umpires have done a good job enforcing this rule all season but have had some push-back from some of you and some resistance which has caused poor relations at some fields. This should not be an issue -- you cannot coach without a helmet. Thank you for your cooperation.
Another hot topic at the midway point of our season is the coaches attire. We agreed at the March meeting that all coaches must be properly dressed for games. A coaches shirt, team jersey or pullover is acceptable. Coaches shorts or baseball pants are also acceptable. NO denim or cutoff shorts, slacks, work pants, capris, skirts, work boots or dress shoes can be worn while coaching the bases. This also should never be an issue to be dealt with at the field.
Cleat Restrictions for Fields Listed Below
Please take care of our facilities.
Metal Cleats are NOT PERMITTED (Molded and Turfs allowed) at the following venues:
Umpire Dispatcher: 631-772-4645
This number is for same-day game cancellations for teams using their own field ONLY.
This is NOT a rainout information line -- information regarding postponements is posted here on the welcome page of the website as soon as it is available.
All Teams Must Have a Set of Bases for All Games
Remember to bring bases to all fields. Some fields accommodate us with bases and others do not. Town of Brookhaven fields do not supply bases.
