AAU Boys' Basketball Tryouts With MAYS & Severn Athletic Club (SAC) on March 5th, 2019
Coach Bruce Spruell has teamed with Severn Athletic Club (SAC) for this upcoming AAU season 2019!!! Coach Spruell will be coaching ages 14-15 (9th grade). This will be a traveling team. Tryouts/practice will be held starting Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Chesapeake Science Point School, 7321 Parkway Drive South, Hanover, MD 21076.
Practices will be conducted on Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday TBD. Watch this site for additional times and locations.
Coach Spruell is a high school head boys' varsity basketball coach and he will be using this time to get these young players ready for high school basketball.
As well as a coaching high school basketball Coach Spruell has over 20 years of coaching experience in AAU basketball programs such as; Crusader Nation, Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS), Maryland Youth Basketball Association (MYBA) and Harundale Sports League (HYSL). NEW BOYS' BASKETBALL COACH - Chesapeake Science Point H.S.
Coach Spruell was the head JV/Assistant Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach at Towson High School in Baltimore County for the 2017-2018 winter season. JV finished with a record of 10-8 and varsity finished 10-14.

Coach Spruell started in 2014-2015 as the head varsity boys' basketball coach at Bluford Drew Jemison Academy (BDJA) H.S. in Baltimore City, Maryland guiding them as runners up in the Baltimore City Division III championship game 2014-2015 with a 14-11 record. First in school history. Coach Spruell remained at BDJ for 4 years.

Before coming to Bluford Drew Jemison Coach Spruell was the Head JV/Assistant Boys' Varsity Basketball Coach for Bladensburg H.S. for the 2012-2013 winter season. Coach Spruell guided his JV team to 13-7 record.

Coach Spruell started his first high school coaching career as the Head Boys' JV/Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Chesapeake H.S. for the 2011-2012 winter season. Coach Spruell guided his team to a 10-9 record.

2011 AAU Maryland District 14u/8th Grade Runner up!!!
MAYS 14u/8th Grade are the 2011 Maryland District AAU Runner up Champions!!! Congratulations to the following; front left Kahlil Newkirk, Bruce Spruell, Eric Brown Jr., Danny Dion, Carlos Scaggs. Back left; Adam Ogbonuba, Trent Smoot, Trey Chambers,Vincent Marshall, Regale Goings, and Daivon Tapscott. Coaches; Jerry Mason, Bruce Spruell, Frank Chambers and Larry Goings. This MAYS team also represented the state of Maryland in the Division III AAU National Tournament in Hampton Virginia and placed 5th in this contest. Congratulations again!!!

MAYS 14u/8th Grade are the 2011 National Capital Classic Champions!!! This tournament was held in Chantilly Virginia. MAYS 14u/8th Grade are the 2011 Flames Summer Challenge 8th Grade 14u Tournament Champions!!! This tournament was held in Boyds Maryland. 2010 MAYS/Crusader Nation 13u Boys' AAU Basketball Team Placed 2nd in Super Regional Tournament
MAYS/Crusader Nation 13 and under boys' Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team placed second (runner-up) in the 2010 AAU Super Regional basketball tournament in Downington, PA. Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS) 2009 boys' 12 & under basketball team finished their season undefeated and placed first in the Maryland Sports Plex 12 & Under Tuesday Night Summer Basketball League in Severna Park. MAYS 12u Winter Boys' Basketball Team 2008-2009 Champions in Columbia Raven & GGB Terps League!!!
Maryland Academy of Youth Sports (MAYS) 2008-2009 boys' 12 & Under Winter Basketball Team went undefeated and placed first in the Columbia Ravens 12u Sunday Basketball League. MAYS 12u team also placed first in the Greater Glen Burnie (GGB) Terps 12 & Under Sunday Basketball League. Unfortunately, MAYS 12u team fell one win short of placing first in the Anne Arundel County 12u Division "A" Saturday Basketball League taking second place. The following players to be congratulated are front left; Isaiah Nelson, Bruce Spruell II, Korey Beamon, Parker Gesualdi, Trevelin Queen. 2007 Runners up!!! 10 & Under AAU team
MAYS Hornets 10 & Under were runner-up to Sam Cassell All-stars in the Maryland State District Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Championship game on April 29, 2007 at Morgan State University, Baltimore Maryland. Sam Cassell (Los Angeles Clippers) presented the MAYS Hornets their awards. MAYS will be competing in the 10 and under AAU National tournament held in Coco Beach Florida starting July 15th.
