The schedule is now under construction, we expect to publish the initial draft by November 30th. The schedule will then be available for corrections and alterations for three to five days before it is finalized for the season.
We have been notified of the three area tournaments that begin the suburban season. Wilbraham Park & Rec will be hosting the Turkey Day Jamboree, November 29th through December 1st ( in tribute to Melissa Kowalski). West Side Suburban Basketball is running their Tip-Off Tourney December 5 - 8th and Western New England University will host the Golden Bears' Tourney December 12- 15th. More information on these events can be found under the tournament icon on this welcome page. The suburban basketball season opens Tuesday, December 10th. Important dates for providing information to the executive committee for scheduling purposes can be found in the Handouts icon.
Winning coaches should submit the final score of each game to joeycheeks@verizon.net within 48 hours of the completion of the ballgame.
A "running time" scenario occurs in games with large point differential. Anytime in the second half with a 5/6th grade team ahead by 25 points or more, the clock will run continuously except during time-outs or free-throws. The clock will return to normal operation should the score get closer than the 25 point differential. A similar scenario was approved for 7/8th grade games once the point differential becomes 35 points.
Fall Back Rule:
Once ahead by the specified numbers of points, a team on defense must fall into the three point arc until the ball passes half court. Failure to fall back will lead to one of TWO warnings for delay of the game. A third warning will provoke an indirect technical foul against the head coach. The offended team receives two free throws and the ball at the division line. Three indirect technical fouls will lead to the disqualification of the head coach for the remainder of the game.
Jewelry - In accordance with Federation and MIAA regulations and for the safety of our players, no visible jewelry, outside of a properly secured medical alert bracelet or religious item, is to be worn by any member on the court. Earrings are strictly forbidden and cannot be covered by tape or bandages. Freshly pierced ears are not an acceptable reason to overrule the regulation; if earrings cannot come out the player will not be allowed to participate. Game officials are instructed to uphold a zero tolerance policy on jewelry.
