CHAMPIONSHIP GAME RESULT

September 15, 2019

The championship game was played at Holy Cross HS. It was a 9 inning game that had the Mustangs coming back to tie the game at 3-3. In the late innings the Mustangs scored another run. It was not until the last couple of innings the Mustangs scored the last two runs. Clint pitched a great game for the Mustangs pitching 7 innings for the win. Mike T. then came in for two scoreless innings for the save.

This makes the third different winner of the championship game in four years...... Looks like any team can come in and take the championship trophy!!

See all teams next year!..   And maybe more teams!

Good Luck. Been a great 2019 season.

2019 PLAYOFF UPDATE

August 13, 2019

Gentlemen,

The second round will not begin until September 8, 2019. We will not play on Labor Day weekend. This will involve the four teams remaining in the playoffs. Once again, the 1st round begins August 25, 2019.

Aldo

2019 PLAYOFFS ADJUSTMENT!

August 8, 2019

The playoff format has changed as voted by the League board. It will be a single elimination playoff tournament. Changes in the 1st round include that the number 1 seed in each division will play the number 4 seed in the opposite division. The 2nd seeded teams will play the 3rd seeded teams in the opposite division. This allows teams more games with the opposite division that were not played during the regular season.

The 2nd round will be selected by overall seeding determined before the start of the playoffs 1-8. The highest seeded team will play the lowest seeded team. Then the next highest seeded team playing the next lowest seeded team. (two games) Overall seeding will be determined 1st by record and if a tie, head to head, RD and last RA.

And then the championship game!

Home team will be the highest seeded team.

The playoffs are scheduled to start on August 25, 2019 and will last three to four weeks weeks.

Good luck to all teams!

Aldo

2019 PLAYOFF

August 1, 2019

Managers and players,

We will soon start the playoffs. This will be a single elimination eight team playoff tournament. Seeding are by record regardless of division. All teams will have the opportunity to participate. Winners of their division are guaranteed a third seed. Higher seeds will be home team. A tie in seeding may occur. A head to head run differential will determine the higher seed. That is the difference in runs scored to runs allowed. if undetermined, will move to runs allowed and then overall Run Differential.  Any questions can be answered by your manager.

Thank you,

Aldo

2019 end of season and playoffs

June 29, 2019

End of season questions have been asked. The regular season should end either August 11 or the 18th. The playoffs should start August 18th or 25th.  The playoffs will take three weeks to crown a League Champion. This will take us to the middle of September to complete all games for 2019.  All dates are subject to change due to rain and field use. Best of luck to all teams.

Aldo

SCHEDULE 2019

There is a high chance of rain all week.

2019 Update and Insurance

April 2, 2019

Players, be prepared to sign up for our league insurance this week. Managers will be presenting information to process coverage. This is a supplemental insurance and we have been covered since the start of the season. No severe injuries have been reported so likely no coverage has been needed. If in question regarding an injury, report it to your manager.

This season has started at a very competitive pace. All teams have at least one lose with the Rangers the sole undefeated team. The Nationals(New team in the league) have won three straight games. The Astros have won their last two games. This brings up the Match up of the week. The Nationals vs. Astros.

All teams at this time have full rosters. We would like to accommodate all interested players but can not at this time.  But keep checking in periodically with us if you are still looking to play.

End of playoff

October 13, 2018

October 07, 2018 saw our last game. The Cubs beat the Nationals 5-2. The low scoring game pitted the Cubs using multiple pitchers to get the job done and the Nationals using one pitcher for all but one inning. The Cubs and Astros were unable to play the final game after six weeks of rainy weekends. The game will not be played leaving the Astros as the champions for 2018.

We thank players and managers and the team of umpires lead by Ralph Banda. Again we thank Coach Botello of Holy Cross for the use of his field.

Next year we have six committed teams and hope it will be our best season yet!!!!

Teams interested in joining our league will be considered. Call Aldo at 210-215-2936 for information.

2018 PLAYOFFS

September 4, 2018

This weekend will be our last 2018 league playoff games pending weather. It will match the last three teams in the playoffs. First the Cubs host the Nationals in the 10:00 game. The Cubs have been consistent the whole year being the only team to win against the Astros and twice! The Nationals came on at the end of the year and have been playing more competitive ball.

The second game will be the winner of the first game vs the Astros who have been very strong this year. It will be tough to beat a fresh Astros team... Good to be the number one seed.

Good luck to all teams!

Aldo

2018 PLAYOFF RESULTS

August 26, 2018

See brackets below.

The Angels were tough in the first game today. The Rangers could not hold them in scoring.

The second game saw the Angels play hard against the Nationals and came up one run short... A great year for them. Lots of respect from the Nationals.

The Astros won a tough game against the Cubs. The starting pitcher pitched two good scoreless innings. Their right handed pitcher then came in and pitched a great game.

Congratulations to the D'Hannis Astros for winning the Season Title. This is the third different team in three years to win it. 1st year winner was the Nationals who lost to the Astros in the playoff title final game. The 2nd year title went to the Cubs who also won the playoff final.

This year we have a five team double elimination playoff tournament. Seeding was an important aspect with the last three teams fighting it out for third place. The Cubs or Astros can repeat as the playoff champions.

The playoffs start this Sunday the 19th with three games

Game 1 : #5 Nationals vs #4 Angels 9:30am at Holy Cross HS

Game 2 :  Winner Game 1 vs #1 Astros 1:00pm at HC HS

Game 3 :  #3 Rangers vs #2 Cubs  4:15pm at HC HS

GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS!!!!!!

Players

April 12, 2018

ALL players are required to sign up for the insurance. It is now available. Please text your e-mail address to your manager. Only players that have not signed in from previous years need register. Managers should have a list of players already entered. We have all paid for insurance with team fees, so we should ALL utilize this. This will include a required waiver of liability.

Thanks,                                                                                                                                                                                             Aldo

2018 season

November 15, 2017

Expect a 16-18 game season depending on the playoff structure. We currently will start with five teams in the hopes of increasing to six.

Cost will remain as low as we are able to provide since the league is non-profit. But considering field rental, insurance and miscellaneous cost we do charge all involved.

A word to those players with outstanding balances that played last year. You will not be able to play with another team until you have paid the team you played for. A list of players that have not paid will be turned into the league by all managers. All players should contribute in cost for our league. This way we keep cost as low as possible for all involved.

Thank you,

Aldo Aguilar

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PLAYED TODAY

September 24, 2017 – 09:00 PM

Today the Cubs and Rangers played for the Championship game at 10:00. Turned out to be as competitive as this seasons whole year. The Cubs jumped out early in the game until the Rangers scored six runs in the eighth inning putting them in a tie at 9-9. The top of the ninth had the Rangers score a run for the go ahead. Sure enough, the Cubs hitters came out strong in the bottom of the 9th, getting on base to set up a two run double to win the game with no outs.

Final Score Cubs 11, Rangers 10

Fantastic Game to all players and coaches. To a good year for all teams!

CONGRATULATIONS SARHABL CHAMPIONS "SAN ANTONIO CUBS" !!!!

Congratulations on the Cubs double title, winning the Regular Season too!!!

End of the 2016 San Antonio Roy Hobbs Adult Baseball season!

October 2, 2016

The season ended in a tough game between the Nationals and the Astros. The game was scoreless for four innings until the Astros had a big inning with some key hits. Sam with the Astros had a great game shutting out the Nationals until the last inning. Big Mike also pitched a great game with the Astros scoring all their runs in the fourth inning. The game ended with the Nationals loading the bases with one out. The Nationals were only able to score one run after Sam struck out two of the next three batter. The last strike out was for the third out. It turned very intense by the end of the game.

Congratulations SARHABL Champions "San Antonio ASTROS!!!"

Correction: Dilley Astros!

08/21/2016

Follow up on above article: We have one new team who has agreed to attend the next managers meeting for 2017. Another new team forming has called us and shown interest. That will leave one team to make the eight teams we are expanding to. Regardless, we are sure we will have at least six for next year. Thank you.

Welcome to the San Antonio Roy Hobbs Adult Baseball League internet site.

We thank Coach Botello for allowing us to make Holy Cross HS our League Field. He has been exceptional with us and hope we are meeting his expectations. Special thanks to Rusty for getting the fields in Dilley and D'Hanis. This has helped keep league cost down. Roy and I want to thank all those involved in getting this league where it now is. That includes all players that made commitments to coaches. This allowed the league to prosper. We are about playing baseball and enjoying it. We aim to keep a clean, competitive, professional and respectful attitude while playing baseball in this new Rob Hobbs Baseball League. Comments or suggestions are encouraged by all players. Please discuss ideas with your managers to improve what we now have... We have a lot already!.

Go Hobbs!

BB COR BAT USE!

May 30, 2016 – 10:25 PM

Players,

We use wood bats to decrease the chance of injury. The BBCor bat plays slightly faster than a natural wood bat. Keeping this in mind, please limit specifications to BB Cor bats labeled "certified 0.50". A barrel should be no greater than 2 5/8 inches and no more than a weight of negative three( -3). And make sure it is a WOOD bat. BBCor makes non wood bats. It should be a wood composite since we began the league with wood bat use. Limitation specifications are collegiate and High School wide. Two noted illegal models are the Reebok Vector and the Marucci Cat 5 bats.

Players are expected to take responsibility to ensure proper specifications.

Managers, please double check all players bats to keep the league safe.

League Update

May 21, 2016 – 09:00 AM

The League required that we obtain insurance for each team. Most teams have had their players registered but are still missing a few. Other teams have had minimal signing of players. This option is for the benefit of the player. It is a part of the team fee. You should take advantage of this opportunity. Please sign up!
