Spring Fling and Tampa Invitational Information April 11-13

2014 Spring Fling I Recap

Spring Fling 6th Grade Runner-up

Once again our young 6th grade team made incredible strides at the Disney Classic.  They were 4-0 heading into the finals with an average win differential of 20 points. They rose to the occasion during the semi-final game and broke the mental barrier against a particular team and beat them by 19 points.  With the championship game playing right after, the girls were tired and a bit banged up.  The opponent was a class act team and we couldn't quite make it happen but I am confident that another match-up with them would prove different results. The girls should be proud of their achievements, just as the coaching staff is proud of them.  Way to go TBI 6th grade girls !!!

Spring Fling 7th Grade Division Rinner-up

Our 7th Grade team split games in pool play winning in a blow out against FDD and lossing a tight game 55-61 against the Lady Shottas.  Advancing to their 6th Championship game in their last 8 tournaments (dating back to last season) this team proved they can overcome any situation.  In bracket play, TBI 7th beat the Brevard Bulls 42-12 to advance to the semi-finals.  The semi-final game against Team Gainesvile will be a game that these girls will remember the rest of their lives.  With the game tied 49-49 with 2.2 seconds left in the game, Greta Louk hit a short jumpshot at the buzzer for the win.  In the Championship game, our 7th graders played one of their best games of the year.  They played good enough to win but you have to give credit to the Lady Shottas hitting 4 3pointes in the fourth quarter to keep their team ahead.  At the end, 7th grade came up short lossing a tight game 53-55 against the Lady Shottas.  Congratulations on a great tournament.

Tampa Invitational 2014 Recap

10th Grade Tampa Invitational

Our 10th grade team is starting to come together.  They played some tough competition this weekend.  Just a bit more fine tuning and this team will be ready.  TBI 10th grade recorded a 50-32 win against the Port Orange Flames and lost a tight game 47-54 against the IMG Academy.  Keep working hard and continue to strive for excellence.

TBI 8th (Kelsey) Tampa Invitational

Our 8th Grade (Kelsey) team had an outstanding weekend recording victories against the Yellow Jackets 53-37 and North Florida Elite 40-24.  They finished the Tampa Bay Invitational with a 2-1 record with their only loss against a very tough Central Florida Elite team by a score of 46-41.  Congratulations on a great weekend!

April 5 and 6th

6th Grade

Showing that they are still a young team on the rise, the TBI 6th continue to improve on their team play. With ALL players contributing, the team played great against their bracket competition and advanced to the finals. After a highly contested championship game, they placed as 2014 CBC Runner up. Congratulations to the young ladies who make up the foundation of TBI. 6th graders recorded noticeable wins against East Tampa Thunder and Next Level Hoops.  Continue to make YOUR Organization PROUD.  They finished the tournament with a 3-2 record.

7th Grade

TBI 7th played well but came up short.  Losing a tough game to the East Tampa Thunder by 5 and another to the Ocala Lightning our 7th graders missed the championship game for the first time in 6 tournaments.  However, they manage to win their last game of the tournament against a very tough Rampage Elite team finishing the the tourney with a 1-2 record  Great job ladies!

 8th Grade Jess

This team played outstanding blowing away their competition in pool play by an average of 28 points.  8th graders were able to beat 2 East Tampa Thunder Teams and Florida Lady Suns team to advance to their 2nd championship of the year.  At the end they came up short to Next Level Hoops but they proved they belong and can beat some tough competition.  *th graders finished with a 4-1 record.

8th Grade Kelsey

This team did not miss a beat.  After finishing last year with an overall record of 54-8, Coach Kelsey and her 8th grade squad is looking to compete in mostly showcase events wanting to compete against the best competition in the nation.  They ended the showcase with wins against the CC Hoops and Miami Suns.  They also lost a close game against the Essence.  They finished with a 2-2 record.  Great job ladies!

9th Grade

These young ladies competed at a very high level during their first live competition of the year.  They were able to beat a tough Miami Suns team but dropped some competitive games to the Florida Future and the G Nation Orange.  Overall, they ended the showcase with an overall record of 1-3 against the very best competition the State of Florida can offer.  Lot's of talent on this team.  Keep working ladies!

10th Grade

Our 10th grade team lost all of their games finishing the weekend with an 0-4 record.  But what is exiting is that they competed with some of the best competition in the nation that included Miami Suns Larkins, Essence Black, and a very tough Florida Future 2016 team.  They proved they can compete with the best competition.  This team improved and played with a lot of hart and passion.  We are looking foreard to a great season.
