WAFFL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE RULES / FALL 2022

We, the (WAFFL) Washington Area Flag Football League, will support the decisions of all game officials (referees) with regards to the aggressive contact and actions that transpire during the league games (to include disrespectful cursing and name calling). This has been motivated by the incidents of the recent past, that have led to extensive fines, season delays and need for on the field police presence (which is a cost factor and necessity). As a result, the following rules will be enforced moving forward:

1. If a fight breaks out during the game, the referee has the right to call the game. The team that has the most points wins by default.

2. The player or players SEEN throwing the punch or displaying aggressive actions that ignited the incident, will be required to leave the field and face a fine and suspension, based on the WAFFL league Director’s decision.

3. If a fight breaks out after a game, the referees and commissioners are responsible for documenting names and numbers of the spectators, players, and coaches that contribute to the disruption and it’s continuance.

4. The individuals will be held liable for any and all damages incurred during this said “incident”. Immediately following, an incident report will be filed regarding the incident. Recordings, statements and reports will be used to fine or arrest those individuals found responsible for the said incident.

5. If a WAFFLE player continues to be penalized for aggressive (fighting, flagrant contact, cursing at opposing team and officials…after being warned) behavior, then the WAFFL commissioners will determine the punishment. Exceptions will be at the discretion of the Director.

6.  All fines (individual or team) must be received before he/she or team can return to participate in league play.

7.  NO smoking weed or drinking open alcoholic beverages is allowed within the park or parking areas as stipulated by MD Park & Planning, as well as, Park Police.

8.  All other league rules still apply (see rules book).

9. All rosters must be turned in by THIRD GAME (before you leave the field) or there will be a $50 late fee fine.

10. Each player must print and sign his/her own name (not coaches).

11. Any WAFFL player that is on a roster for 3 games (upper or lower bracket), after the third game, he/she must stay in that bracket throughout the entire season.

12. If a team is removed from the WAFFL league (for any reason) there is NO REFUND of league fees.

13. Every player on a team MUST wear the team jersey OR a solid color jersey/shirt that matches the team's color for that game or that player will not be able to play in the game.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to MD Park & Planning requirements, the Upper Level Division playoffs will begin September 18, 2022.

These rules have been fully sanctioned and reviewed by the Director and Assistant Director of WAFFL.
