Out of the abundance of caution in regards to the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to cancel the remainder of the 2019-2020 Whitman Jr Pro Basketball season. Beginning immediately, all town and travel team practices and games are cancelled. 

The South Shore Youth Basketball League has made this decision along with us. 

We want to thank you to all of our volunteer coaches, volunteer referees, players, and parents for a great, yet shortened, season. 

We look forward to a fresh start and season this fall

2019-2020 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration will only be accepted in person, the "old fashioned" way, with a paper registration. WJP Basketball had an issue with our current online registration system which made it impossible to use this year. We hope to have online registrations back for 20-21 season. Until then we will resort to paper, in person registrations at the below 

Instructional League $50.00 per player

Junior League $75.00 per player

Senior League $75.00 per player

*$10 discount for a second registered child, $15 discount for a third registered child.

Travel Basketball fee is TBD, this depends on the fee established by the Patriot League in which our travel program participates in. For grades 6, 7,& 8 the $75.00 registration fee would then be applied to your travel fee if your son makes the travel team.

 Instructional League Schedule 2019-2020

What is Instructional League...?

Instructional League is our earliest offering of organized basketball for boys in the town of Whitman. Instructional League is for boys in grades 3 and 4. If you played in our Instructional League as a 3rd grader then the following year as a 4th grader you'd advance to our Junior League. If you did not play in our Instructional League as a 3rd grader, then you must play as a 4th grader. 

Instructional League is hosted on Monday nights only at the Whitman Middle School. Practice time is from 5:45pm-7:00pm each Monday night starting in December. Instructional League will run through late February/early March pending on the weather. There will be two Saturdays involved throughout the season as part of our "Instructional League Showcase" event. Those days are TBD and are given with ample notice to parents.

The goal of our Instructional League is to lay the foundation for basketball, teaching and focusing on the fundamentals of basketball. The kids will learn proper dribbling, passing, and shoot technique. We do not have "teams" in Instructional League per say, we group the kids by shirt color to help keep organized. However, actual basketball games are not the focus of Instructional League. As the season progresses, the kids will be involved in in-practice scrimmages. Parents/Family are encouraged to attended the practices, however the above mentioned "Instructional League Showcase" events are when we want to pack the house with entire families and friends of our players!
