Jeffrey Mongeon
Asst Coach (19th Season)
One of the program's founders and its initial head coach, Jeffrey Mongeon comes into the 2018 season for his 17th year as general manager. The program's all-time winningest coach, Mongeon accrued a 13-year head coaching record of 270-205-3 from 2002 to 2014. During that time, the Cannons registered eight 20-win seasons, including a string of four consecutive seasons from 2011 to 2014, while also earning state championships in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Mongeon was also an assistant coach when the Cannons captured the 2015 state title. In his time as head coach, 27 of his players went onto play college baseball.
In addition to coaching the Cannons, Mongeon was formerly the assistant coach for varsity baseball at Champlain Valley Union High School. Previous to that, he spent five years as head coach at the middle school and junior varsity levels within the Colchester school system. Along with Greg Clairmont, Mongeon spent four years as coach of the Vermont Sea Monsters, a traveling AAU baseball club.
A 1997 Colchester High School graduate, Mongeon was a three-sport varsity athlete where he spent four years running cross country, three years playing varsity basketball and two years playing varsity baseball under Dave Saddlemire before attending Vermont Technical College., where he batted .310 as a utility player (catcher, 3rd, 2nd, Reliever) as Vermont Tech won the regular season conference title in 1998. Mongeon was born Dec. 28, 1978, and resides in Colchester with his wife Jessie, daughter Aria and son Easton. He is President of the Winooski Insurance Agency and DealerPolicy.
