Jeff Benjamin

Head Coach - Junior Varsity

Jeff Benjamin is the Paul VI (PVI) assistant varsity coach for the girls’ basketball team and head coach of the girls’ junior varsity basketball team.

Coach Benjamin joined the PVI basketball program in 2005 as assistant junior varsity coach for the girls’ basketball team. In 2008, he was appointed head coach for the junior varsity (JV) team. The JV team competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), the nation’s most competitive high school basketball conference. Since becoming head coach, Benjamin has developed the PVI team into a perennial leader in the WCAC. After four seasons, the team’s winning percentage is more than 75% and that includes winning the WCAC tournament his first season and being crowned regular season league champions for the 2011-12 season.

Coach Benjamin’s primary coaching objective is to prepare his players for varsity-level competition by developing their basketball skills and knowledge of the game. His teams run a controlled offense, focused on good ball movement and high percentage shots. On defense, his teams are disciplined, aggressive and smother the ball.

JV players at PVI are student-athletes who excel both on the basketball court and in the classroom. Coach Benjamin teams consistently achieve a team grade point average above 3.0.

Coach Benjamin began coaching basketball in 1992. He has coached house league, county travel and AAU teams. His teams have won championships at every level. In addition to coaching at PVI, Coach Benjamin is an active AAU coach and his teams have qualified for the AAU Nationals every year since 2005.

Coach Benjamin is a Virginia Tech graduate and resides in Vienna, Virginia.
