Jamaal graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, TX in 2002. As a three year Varsity starter, Jamaal had a very successful high school campaign that included: New Comer of the Year- 2000, District 2-5A Most Valuable Player- 2001 & 2002, All State Pitcher- 2001 & 2002, TPX All-American pitcher- 2002, Team Texas player- 2000, 2001 & 2002, and the #3 all-time pitcher in Monterey’s prestigious winning history.
In 2002 Jamaal received a full scholarship to play baseball for Texas Tech University. He also was the 8th round draft pick as a left-handed pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002. Deciding to play professionally, Jamaal played 4 years in the Dodger organization, making it to AA. He also played a season with the independent team, San Angelo Colts in 2005. Jamaal then went on to play football for West Texas A & M University, winning the conference championship in 2007. He transferred to Texas Tech and graduated with a BA in History and a minor in Education in 2010.
Jamaal has coached a wide variety of kids from the ages 7-18 over the last 10 years including Monterey High School’s summer league teams, little league, select leagues, and with the RBA Seahawks out of Corpus Christi the summer of 2011. As a head coach, Jamaal had two successful seasons coaching high school baseball before relocating to San Antonio.
Jamaal has two children, Jaden(Lobos-2019) and Molly.
