Kristen Koehler, BA, MA, Ed.D.
Academic / College Prep Advisor
Dr. Koehler recently started her own consulting company after 13 years in higher education administration. Currently a professor at two local schools, Dr. Koehler has extensive experience in higher education offices and classrooms, and an interest in mentoring students to help them achieve their academic and career objectives.
Prior to her career in higher education she worked in a variety of roles in college and professional sports at the National Basketball Association, CBS Sports, Marist College, Seton Hall University, Caldwell College, and Wagner College.
Dr. Koehler received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marist College in Communications, followed by a Master’s Degree in Corporate and Public Communications from Seton Hall University. In May of 2007, she was awarded a Doctor of Education degree upon successful defense of her dissertation. In the Higher Education Administration program, Dr. Koehler’s concentration was leadership, management, and policy. She used these principles to guide her study, examining leadership, management and finance as pertains to both college administration and college athletics, and published her dissertation entitled, The Role of the President in Achieving Balance between Athletics and Academics at Division I-A Institutions.
Dr. Koehler can assist with preparing for interviews or conversations with coaches, writing personalized e-mails to coaches and admissions counselors, application review, scholarship application guidance and prospective student athlete questionnaires and help navigate the student-athlete admissions process.
