Shane has accumulated over 20+ years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high school, and youth levels. His previous position in 2015 was with the Baltimore Orioles as the 18U head baseball coach on their Midwest Scout Team. In 2014, Shane was a coach on the Philadelphia Phillies Midwest Scout Team, under the leadership of Chris McKnight and Luis Abreu, who finished the season with a 25-7-2 record against professional and division I prospects.

Shane also works with two 12U Travel Team programs. The Midwest SELECT 12U, and the Dubuque Tigers (USSSA Major Level) 10U USSSA Global State Champions, 23-12, formerly BLA (9U, 23-6, and 8U USSSA State Champions, 21-4).

Since 2001, Shane has served as a site director and instructional coach for local and National Baseball Camps, recently worked as a pitching and hitting instructor for the Milwaukee Brewers, in the Brewers Baseball Academy. With taking a hands-on approach to instruction, demonstrating continual growth, he has worked with 29 NCAA Division I players, 7 All Americans, 3 Conference Players of the Year, 1 NCAA Home Run and Slugging Percentage National Champion, 1 College Wood Bat Summer League Most Valuable Player, 11 players who were offered professional contracts, 3 Iowa High School Baseball SUPER TEAM members, and numerous 2-year and 4-year college players.

From 2003-2013, Shane served as the head baseball coach at the University of Dubuque. Under the his supervision, the Spartans set 57 school records, which included the highest team fielding percentage, runs scored, runs batted in, stolen bases, and double plays turned in school history. Producing 1-All American, 7-All Region, and 15-All Conference selections.

2002-2003, Shane spent 2 years as the head coach at Bellevue High School, in Bellevue, Iowa. In only his second season, he helped guide the Comets to a Sub-State Runner Up finish. Comet notables include, 36 team wins, 2-All State, 4-All District selections, 16 school records.

Instruction away from the batting cage, Shane has helped players increase their arm strength, elevating their level of performance, which in turn, providing them with greater sense of possibility. The proof is in the numbers. Over the last two years, 15 athletes who have participated in the program, demonstrated an average gain of 5.72 velocity mph.

90 MPH Club. Shane has worked with 11 (9 pitchers and 2 position players) athletes who successfully entered the club.

Three of his youth protégés, Andy Beck, Gabe Schultz, and Quin Schultz. Andy Beck, graduated as the State of Iowa’s High School All Time Hits Leader (275). After breaking the State of Iowa Hits record, Andy Beck would go on to say in the Des Moines Register, “Shane taught me the game of baseball, teaching me everything I know…he is my hero.” Gabe Schultz, after finishing his high school career ranks 30th in career Runs Batted In (253), 12th on Runs Scored (223), 7th in career Doubles (62), who later went on to play at University of Northern Iowa. Quin Schultz, following graduation ranked 3rd on Runs Scored (80), 4th on Runs Scored (78), and 3rd in Hits in a Season (82).

In addition to teaching and instructing, Shane also worked with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an associate scout from 2005-2010, and was the owner of the River Valley League, during the summer of 2008-2011. The River Valley League produced players from every level of college baseball, giving them a chance to work on their skills in an intense wood bat atmosphere. Shane recruited and mentored coaches in his developmental league, who later went on to coach in the Northwoods League, Texas Collegiate League, and the MINK League. RVL notable players, 4-professional contracts, 2-NCAA All Americans, 1-NAIA All American, and players from two National Championship programs.

As a high school and collegiate player, Shane played for two national renowned coaches. In high school, he was a captain for Iowa perennial power house, Kee High School, under Gene Schultz, the Nations all-time winningest coach, who he later coached side-by-side with (1999-2000). In that time he was a member of three successful teams (1 Iowa High School State Title, and Back-to-Back State Runner Ups). After graduation, Shane was recruited and received an athletic scholarship to play for Bill Krejci, at Southwestern Community College. Coach Krejci is currently affiliated with USA Baseball, serving as the National Team Hitting Instructor.
