Coach Tim Goins is a native of Poteet TX. He played 3 sports in high school, was a member of National Honor Society, and graduated 3rd in his class. He was a 4-year varsity letterman and was an integral part of teams that played in the State Tournament once, and the Regional Finals twice.

After high school, Coach Goins played at St. Mary's University for Coach Charlie Migl here in San Antonio. Recruited as a Catcher, he played right field as a freshman due to his offensive prowess. The following 3 years he caught at StMU while receiving post season honors.
After College, Coach Goins was drafted as a Catcher by the San Diego Padres Organization. He played for the Scottsdale Padres, and the Waterloo Diamonds. After playing in the Padres system, Coach Goins played for the San Antonio Tejanos, of the Texas-Louisiana League, where he was managed by Jose Cruz, of the Houston Astros.

After Pro Baseball, Coach Goins began coaching at the HS level in the San Antonio area. Prior to getting involved with Select Baseball, he was the Head baseball Coach at Clark HS for 8 years. In Select Ball, his San Antonio Giants team and Organization won many tournaments and played at a high level. His Organizational goal has always been to prepare young players to excel in high school, with the intent of playing beyond the high school level.

Currently, he is the Head Baseball Coach at Taft HS.
Coach Goins has been married to Christie Chicoine Goins for 22 years. Together, they have 3 children: Lindsey Goins, who is majoring in Elementary Education at UTSA; Reid (Lobos 2015 Alum), has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas @ Dallas where he played Baseball. Reid graduated as a Salutatorian from Communications Arts HS; Devin Goins (Lobos 2020 alum) currently playing at St. Mary's University
