More than likely, we will stay ASA. I've looked into other sanctions and if we were to switch, I would have probably have recommended going to I.S.A. We played some I.S.A. ball in Springfield this year and I think they have the best rules out of all of the sanctions.

The big thing is umpires. There are plenty of ASA umpires down here to pick from as long as I can get enough of them that want to umpire over at Marion. A lot of them were already dedicated to games in Carbondale and Murphysboro this year when I tried to get guys to fill in. None of the other sanctions are anywhere near large enough to where we could get umpires down here.

You know, I was thinking of throwing out the idea of staying ASA, but allowing NSA/USSSA bats also. There's nothing that says that we can't do that.

The thing is that with these fences, I really think it'd hurt the league more than it'd help it. The fences are 272 down left and the bottom field fence is 231 to the right field pole. The bats that are ASA approved are hot enough that if you're supposed to hit it out, you can. We lose enough balls as it is and if people start buying non-ASA bats and go to state where they can't use them, they'd really be in a bind.

Just my take on it.

I know I don't play in your league but after reading this I would say you should stick to the ASA bat list. They have the most restrictive list and if your fences are that short you don't want to open it up too much. I don't know what your HR limits are but you also start to open up the middle and you don't want that with some of the hotter bats from other associations.

Let me know if you ever need someone for a tournament, it is a little bit of drive from up here but I would come down and play a little if you needed someone.
