| As you all may have heard by now... The first annual Governors Cup State Championship tournament will be held in Warwick the weekend of August 19th. The top 2 Regular Season finishers of each league in all of RI will be invited to participate with their true rostered teams to compete for the State Championship. If any of the 2 top teams cannot for whatever reason participate , then the next team in line will get the chance to also represent their league. Looks like a few solid teams from this league fighting for those top 2 spots....So who will be representing Coventry's Mens Softball ???

| It will be hard to get a Coventry team involved at least at full strenght. So many other guys play in various other leagues and will have to choose which team they would play with. If there is enough intertest among the top few teams I am sure the league could be represented.

| ok I'll send off an email to Tony later. Someone bring it up at the next league meeting. Assuming the standings end up as they are now..... The PNA would probably be losing half of the roster to night league teams from Atwood and Clegg and might not be able to enter so the 3rd place team would have to make sure they could enter as a replacement.

| lemdawg, Artie is right. The purpose of this tournament is to have all the best true league "teams" around the state all compete against each other regardless of players or teams classifications/levels or what sanctions they play under. a TRUE state championship competition without any "sandbagging" per say. Kinda the way state tournaments used to be before softball started to go on the downslide with now a pathetic # of turnouts for the states. this annual event will be THE most anticipated tournament of the year in RI Softball I beleive for a long time. Besides you can always put together an mvp or allstar type team if you choose for open invitation tournaments which come around every year locally.

| an all star team just from the sunday monring league couldnt compete, never mind the top team in the league, in that tournament. the kennedy team, is by far the best league team in the state, and better than most tournament teams., they play outta pawtucket and hit missiles, i know, i pitched against them 5 times this yr. again hellfire will hold thier own and should do well in it

| lemdawg, to say no team from coventry could compete in this tournament couldn't be more ridiculous. firstly, your not giving enough credit to the talent coventry teams have, because I know for sure teams like VFW and PNA could compete head to head with most. I'm not too familiar with all the other teams except for Europa which i did see play once this year which from the looks of thenm can also hold their own. second, you give team Kennedy way too much credit...though take nothing away from them for they are one of the best around, they also have their bad games like anyone and can be beaten by most of these teams in this tourney.
Artie...good luck with your Hellfire team (you guys have been on FIRE!!..no fun intended) the way you guys have been coming along this year has been really impressive and you guys will be a team to contend with.

| NSA player... i play for hellfire ass well as hooters. i see the best competion in the state every weekend. coventry definetly has talent, and young talent. they need to play more during the week, and learn the game better. coventry sunday morning alot of people know escpiaclly because fall ball is open rosters i bring guys in and hellfire has 2 state championships and about to win an atwood ship to. and hopefully in vegas a worlds under the belt. you have to give kennedy credit when you play them, they have top guys in the state not leaguse state. i give credit when do.
