| There will be meetings this winter discussing rule changes and other ideas for the League. Since a group of us are meeting to decide for the whole, here is your chance, what are some things you want changed, added, removed, etc. We know the big one, exemption. What else would improve this league?

| Actually Smitty, As you know I believe the problem revolved more around the fact that teams could not pick up players due to injury or people simply quitting. My proposal is that teams should be allowed to maintain their original roster throughout the season. That being said, if a team starts with 21 guys, they should be able to pick up players at anytime to maintain a 21 man roster and not have to wait until they drop below 11 to be allowed to pick up one. Thus if a team loses three, they should be allowed to pick up three to return to the original number of players that they started the season with. If you start the season with 15, you will only be allowed to pick up players to maintain 15. We discussed the fact that any player who is injured must provide a doctors note stating the he cannot play, and that player cannot play anywhere else while injured in the Coventry League. That team will be allowed to replace that player with another player up until the injured player returns. I also mentioned that the injured player or the replacement player should be eligible for the playoffs regardless of at bats or games played. I believe this will eliminate forfeits, especially for teams that play in tournaments, because they could actually send 11 players to a tournament and still have 10 play here in Coventry at the same time.

| Smitty, outside of the rules I definately think that we should have our own ASA tourney. Also I agree with you when you said we should start the season a little earlier to allow for rainouts and makeup games, as well as making the fall ball season a little longer and allowing for tourney play.

| I don't think anything should change with players and rules of exemptions. How are you going to regulate who the injury replacement players are? I am telling you right now that I would get 4 guys that have no intention of playing start the season on my roster and have them all come up with an excuse why they have to leave the league. Then I would have my 4 ringers on standby. No rules would be broken and I have no morals so it would not bother me at all.
I have said this before that the league should not schedule games during the weekends of state tournaments. I know teams like PNA, JR's, and those rotten bastards VFW have problems getting players. Europa has started playing tournaments and I am sure other teams or players would like to. Most forfiets come from these weekends.

| Ryno....How about if all injured players had to get a Dr.s note and have it sent in before any team could replace a player. The note should state the injury, and the estimated time that player will be out. The injured player cannot play anywhere else why he is out, and no team can replace that player with a player who would be considered exempt.
Secondly I don't know too many guys who would be willing to let their team manager manipulate them like that. I know I wouldn't....your on my roster only till I find someone better then I'm going to drop you and replace you.

| every team should be allowed 1 pick up, and 4-8 2 pick ups and 8-last get three. i know that sounds conveint for jrs since we finished last but the 3 guys i would or could pick up play tournaments every weekend and wouldnt get enough bats. the rule should be all exempt players should have a minimum at bats and games played. and like ryno said some teams have problems on the weekends of the states, maybe instead of canceliing the whole league think ahead and scedule a jrs vs vfw, so it doent effect the whole league.

| Word around town is JR's will only get two exempt players if the rule changes to three for nine thru last and one if the rule stays the same . The same thing happened to the Mens Club a couple years ago and they were given exempt players based on the place they finished not where they ended up after they got caught. JR's finished in a tie for 5th so they get one if its the same or two if its bumped and still have to use one on Dutilly. This league always goes on what has been done in the past.

SO TAKE A YEAR OFF YA UGLY BASTARD OR DONT GET CAUGHT PLAY IN CANADA OR SOMETHING. YOUR NOT THAT GOOD ANYWAY I TIED YOU IN THE FERBY !!! I THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A RULE ABOUT INJURED PLAYERS , WE TOOK ALOT OF HEAT BECAUSE OF FORFIETS BUT WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO IF WE COULD REPLACE THOSE PLAYERS WE HAD 4 GUYS GO DOWN WITH SEASON ENDING INJURIES AND HAD TO LIMP ERNIE TO THE PLATE IN THE FINALS !!!SO WE AS A TEAM THINK SOME RULES NEED TO BE CHANGED .I AM ALL FOR TAKING THE STATES OFF ANYONE WHO THINKS COVENTRY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A SHOT A THE STATES IS NUMB JUST MY OPINION !!!

| No question Artie, you had injured players, and Jr's had injured players and it all could have been settled easily by allowing teams to pick up players to replace the injured ones.

| Get more players to start with. Problem solved. Everyone likes to poke fun at our old guys but they are there when we need them. We have injuries and tournaments just like everyone else and we don't forfiet.

| Ryno that doesn't work either. I know I started with 21 players and worked my ass off to get them in to the games and sat out alot of games myself to put someone in just to get them in. (Not that I mind) I have had to pull out guys batting well over .500 to put in a guy just barely batting .300 just to get them at bats to qualify for the playoffs.
Nobody wants to come down on a Sunday and sit the bench. It is also stupid for me to pull a good hitter and replace him with a poor hitter just to get him in. I'll take just about anyone on the team and give them a shot, but eventually they bitch and moan about playing time and wind up quitting.
I actually had a guy who absolutely stunk come down and throw a uniform at me and told me to my face he was quitting because I wasn't playing him enough. I asked him where he thought he should be playing and who he thought he was better than, he could not name a single guy that he was better than. So what do I do then? I DH'd him whenever I could and he actually had more at bats than me, and it still wasn't good enough.
It is not like when you and I were growing up, the best players played, the rest sat until they got better. Today everyone thinks they are just entitled to play, because that is how kids are raised now, everyone plays no matter how bad they are. Go to a batting cage, work with the glove. Probably at this point of their lives if they don't have the basics down they never will. So instead of sitting the bench and learning from guys who are better, they simply bitch and moan about how they should be playing.
Guys who are already good players aren't going to come down on Sunday and sit, they just won't do it. So you have to keep your roster kind of thin, and if someone gets hurt you really need to be able to pick up another player. It is impossible to maintain a 21 man roster all year, unless you are the VFW and teams like them who play tournament ball, you can send 10 play in Coventry and keep them happy and take your best 11 and play tourneys. That is the only way you could make everyone happy.
