So how are all of the Snurdbirds doing this offseason? Hope you guys are getting ready for the upcoming season, don't be expecting any 13-2 victories over the Legionnaires! :) Anyway, since this is the most looked at site in the L&P, I figured I'd bring this up here. Have any of you looked at the new format for the state tournament the next few years? In the last meeting minutes at the minnesota baseball site they're talking about switching up the double elim. format for both class B and C. For class C for 2007 and 2008 they're going to make the double elimination happen once the field is down to four teams instead of eight. Then starting in 2009 they're going to make it just a single elimination format throughout. What does everybody think about this? I'll be honest, I think the current format forces a team to be deep, especially in the pitching staff, to be successful when it gets to the late stages of the tournament, which I think is good. Switching it to a single elim all the way through will even make the draft issues that are currently in effect become more of an issue, with maybe only a couple pitchers needing to pitch throughout the tourney per team. Just figured I'd point this out in case anyone hasn't seen it yet. Check out the page, www.minnesotabaseball.org, for the latest minutes on this. Also, they're talking about moving Blue Earth, the Rochester Blues, and Winona to class B...which maybe has been a long time coming. Let me know what all you guys think about this.

haha I know I realized that when I didn't get any replies to this post in awhile. I guess if there had been a mandatory two kegs after each game at state supplied to the two teams that played it would've been a much more popular rule change! That sounds like a plan to me, give the increased dues back to the teams by giving kegs to winning teams at state! :)

Nice call Dave-0, nice call.
It would be nice if the state board would actually listen to any of us small-town teams about any decisions.
