Dan, I was just curious if ASA standard bats were going to be used again this year for 2007. I have an Easton Synergy that is over 3 years old and was thinking of getting a new bat that comes in a 26oz. What bat would you reccommend? Take care. BB

Yep. Well, no matter what you get unless it's a Freak or another Syn 2, it's not gonna be as hot as the one you have. As you probably know, ASA changed their standards to not include 100 mph bats, and now they have to test no higher than 98mph.

The ASA changed things so that this upcoming year is the last year that the 100 mph bats can be used. So starting 2008, the Freak 100 and the Synergy 2 won't be ASA legal. Because of that, you can get the Freaks on Ebay for a pretty good price right now.

That being said, I am 99% sure that I am going to change the balls this year. I am looking at making it completely a "Hit your own ball" league. We won't buy "league" balls and pass them out, but teams will be able to buy their own balls.

The rules for this will be that they HAVE TO BE an ASA certified, 44/375 slowpitch softball. The ONLY ball as of right now that will be excluded from that are the Legend softballs. Those were never 44/375 and they are out of business.

To answer your question on a new bat, Easton and Worth to me, are the best out now. 1) Because the Mayhem and the Stealth line are both really good bats. 2) Both companies offer a 1 year, UNLIMITED return policy on composite bats. The Stealth I have is the 4th one I've had because 3 have broken. EVERY time, I've gotten the new bat back within a week.

The Stealth 98, M798 and the JHM798 (has .5 oz endload) are all ASA bats that are really good.

Dan
