| The macgregor softballs are trash!! Registration fees are expensive and I think that the teams should be provided with adequate gear to play the sport. The ball will barely leave the infield. Spring the extra money and buy some better softballs..

| Kruky, Kruky... First, we had complaints about players hitting balls into houses (with loaded bats?) so we pulled out the restricted flights. To test the effects. If you're not hitting the ball out of the infield, it's not the ball...but, nonetheless, we won't use them very often. Second, expensive registration? I don't think so. We have an earlybird reduced rate of which less than 25% of our teams take advantage. Travel just a few miles down the hill and you'll see rates $200 higher than ours. Besides, where else can you get this kind of smart alecky response? We have to pay my writers ya know!

| Yeah yeah, and when we bring back the normal balls for a men's lower league (Last Monday) we have 12 homeruns hit in just one league! If you can hit that many homeruns, you shouldn't be playing in a lower league.
Might have to look into designated homerun hitter rules. Usually one player is designated a homerun hitter and he can hit as many as he likes and the next player to hit a homerun on his team is the only other homerun hitter.
I hit the "bean bag" the other day. I didn't hit it over the fence, but it was not difficult for me to hit it in the outfield. You might actually have to move runners over and play real ball!
I'll try and find a happy medium...

| Hey mounties, you seem to be getting a little agitated about the whole"bean bag" issue. Would you prefer to use the trash balls for any reason??

| No payola involved here. But one of the reasons we don't play too many games at Hook is because we get complaints from the neighbors about balls being hit in their yards. I've been checking out woodbats too. Not the lame softball kind, but real major league type. Maybe I'll offer another HR contest with woodbats here at Hook #1 as a test. You in?

| the game is fine the way it is. the problem is the balls not the bats. AS for the people that live by the park have you looked into getting the big driving range nets? i believe they are a pretty resonable solution.

| It's only city league softball....recreational freaking softball. This is a city provided recreational league for all types of players. In my opinion it's a positive one at a very reasonable price. I hear the complaints about the softballs and laugh. Believe it or not there are many players on these fields, men and women alike who don't need rock hard softballs hit at them with $300+ bats. They are what we refer to as recreational softball players which is who this league should serve first. For those of us who love the thrill of competetive ball, that's what the weekends are for down the hill. If this doesn't make sense, research the number of players who have died or are permanantly disabled playing this sport since bat and ball technology went out of this world. Recreational softball fella's, that's all this should be.

| Well Ccmsby or however you put it. I agree with the fact that it is rec softball. Nevertheless, for the money that we pay, however the amount,I still believe that we should be provided with quality equipment. I do not own a bat that costed me more than 50 dollars and I am not a homerun hitter. But when you get a response like this about a ball then maybe there might be a general dislike of that equipment. Some of us take our softball to heart and you cant tell me that its really all that fun when your losing games. Competitive nature is in our gene make-up ,so I am sorry if my asking for a better ball put a damper on your fun time playing rec softball...

| krucky i agree with you. If the better softballs cost a few cents more than why not have softballs that are going to last more than one game. If you settle for less you are going to get less.

| I see both sides. When I first moved here last year, I played at Eva Del and knocked out at least nine homeruns with my $99.00 (plus shipping and handling) bat. I will say I am not a power hitter, but right ball + right + pitch + smaller field = HR. Now when the playoffs started and the league went to the other balls, I actually had to "place" my hits and use some strategy. The cheaper balls do put more emphasis on playing the game and not just having a home run contest, but it was fun to hit em’ That being said, maybe the city should have a league where people can buy their own balls (within league guidelines) and play the games on a 300’ fence park (if there is one available) like we did back east. As I do not remember near as many homeruns per game being knocked out until I moved here (yes we had the same bats and skill level of players as well). That way both elements would exist, longer flight balls as well having to actually “place” hits because it may or may not go out. Just my opinion Thanks for letting me share it.

| Why don't you have a maximum of 4 or 5 home runs a game and after that it is an out. The city of Victorville had some poor planning in the past and the Adult softball leagues are paying for it. Use good balls and take your lumps with homeowners. If, not...then build some proper fields and raise the price to play, but do not make excuses as to why you can not do something. With the amount of people that live in the high desert you should have a waiting list of teams..But with poor fields and poor equipment it will never happen..Just my .02.

| Guys, it has nothing to do with the price of softballs. The "beanbags" MacGregors are the same price as the Badens. They are not a cheaper ball, they are designed to come off of the bat slower.
