Some of the reasons I like to play in Victorville:
*Well organized
*Prepped fields
*Awesome website- lots of time put in, you can tell!
*Best competition in High Desert
*Efforts made to recruit/retain good umpires
*Games start on time

What do you like about softball in Victorville? Thanks for keeping it positive.

Thanks Jenn...I started a new post to see if we can keep it positive and clean. Nice to hear from you. I'm sure Dave doesn't hear about all the good stuff often enough.

I agree hardlinedrives... well put..
I can add the cost to play per team is not bad either. I know for a fact Victorville's cost is a lot lower then most organized sports. And I appreciate that.
I wanted to also add majority of the teams/players of the Victorville leagues are good people. People that I enjoy playing with, against, and also umpiring for.
Thank you all for a good time!

Seriously,

I've tried a few things like adding as many teams as possible so I didn't have to turn teams away, and using creative schedules to make it fun, but it's becoming obvious that the byes in some schedules are not appreciated. (It has nothing to do with cramming teams in to make the budget look good)

So next season I plan to have a six team max for most leagues or at least an average 6 teams per available field to cut down on byes and that will keep the season lengths very close to the same for each league. The downside is that we might have to turn a few teams away.

Also, Sunday leagues will have a couple of more games as we'll add double headers to the schedules.

We are also offering a Sunday woodbat limited arc men's softball league. Baseball bats will be allowed. If you are interested, sign-up for Sunday and write "woodbat" on your registration form. I'm hoping that we'll have at least 4 teams to give it a shot.

I really do think that our parks guys do a great job of keeping us with the best turf in the High Desert and beat a lot of other places down the hill as well.

How about some V.V. Parks and Rec softball fundraising tournaments to raise $$$ to "raise" the outfield fences at eva dell?

At the same time they were being raised, they could be moved back about 5 feet (sharing the outfield fence between #1 left field and # 2 right field). Any thoughts?

Have been efforting to raise the fences at Eva Dell and having a common fence between the fields. Hoping to have a fencing estimate completed soon and submitted for approval.
