The Co-Ed B league came down to the last night of games. VAEA Blue played Aisin and VAEA Green played Broadway Limo. 1st and 2nd places were up for grabs.

VAEA Green beat Broadway Limo in both games securing at least 2nd place. If Aisin won both games, they would take second giving VAEA Green first. They won the first game and VAEA Blue won the second game giving them 1st place and VAEA Green 2nd place with Aisin 1 coming in 3rd by 1 loss.

Very competitive league everyone. Congrats.

Thanks Dan...It was GREAT...Congrats to both teams for both finishing with a 12-6 divisional record. (.667). Its just too bad we couldn't play em one last game to break the tie!

Good job Everyone!

It was great Summer.......A playoff game would be fun! Was it ever decided on whether we were doing money or trophies? Looking forward to the Fall.......Thanks Dan for all that you have done and put up with this season. Way to go VAEA BLUE!

If you guys want to do a game, I don't have a problem with that. That being said, VAEA Blue did win the tie breaker because they beat VAEA Green 4 out of 6 games. The first tie breaker is head to head but if you guys want to have one, I don't have a problem with it. Let me know, and if each team wants to chip in $10, I get an umpire for that game. Having the league pay for it wouldn't be the right thing to do, but you could get $1 from every person and hire an umpire for a game.

Let me know. It would have to be done soon because I'm going to try and give out plaques and extra's at the League meeting on August 16th.

With no offense to anyone, I see no reason to play a 'tie breaker' when we've already won it. A game just for fun would be nice, tho :)

It is the general feeling of the Green team that if the Blue team would agree to an actual playoff game to decide the champion, (since divisional records were a tie), we would definitely show up to that game. At least that way the winner could truly, without a doubt, claim to be the champs of the division.

As far as money goes, dont worry, we will get it covered.

Just want to clear this up after rereading what I wrote earlier and what's been put up since. VAEA Blue is the champion of the B league. If you guys want to do a game for "bragging rights", then I'll get an ump for you and you guys can pay him. But, that won't change anything as far as who won the league as far as the league is concerned. 1st tiebreaker is head to head and VAEA Blue won 4 out of 6. They will get the things that the other 1st place teams will get and VAEA Green will get second place. The outcome of that game, if it happens, will not change that.

It's a nice gesture but we have several players, including our coach on vacation. You all know thre will be other chances in the future. Unless John comes back later with a change of heart on it- we are done for the season.

Sam,

Hey your team played well this year. Second place is never bad. I watched both teams many times and no offense but V.A. Blue was the better team, the stats dont lie.

Congrats V.A. Blue!!!

Actually its called head to head win loss record V.A. Blue had 4 out of 6 wins agaisnt the green team.

Therefore the better divisonal winning percentage.

those are called stats, also known as facts.

Kevin, I know they teach Math in school right?...The divisional winning percentages dont change a bit. They are both .667.

I also know that they teach reading in school, because I learned how, and I have read...AND UNDERSTAND...that the Blue team beat us 4 out of 6 games. I know that based on that technicality, they win...I KNOW. But you know what...that doesn't change the fact that we would like to play them one LAST game for a little closure...

Did Rocky and Apollo televise their last fight? No...You and I dont even know who won...but they do.

Now if they dont want to play us, and win on the head to head technicality, than that is fine. Just seems like they would want to prove it to themselves...thats all, but let them decide man.

I have already told Dan that I dont care about a plaque...no-one on our team does...We just think it would be fun to have a playoff game. Is that okay Kevin? If the other team agrees, do you think we can do it?

Thanks Buddy.

Softball, lol.

That word means so much anymore. In more ways than one, lol.

OK. Now that I'm getting numerous email's on this subject, I'll say it one more time.

There is no controversy. No technicality. Nothing. VAEA Blue won 4 of 6 games against VAEA Green. They are the clear cut winner of the B Co-Ed League. Ironically, it was a member of the Blue team who said something about a playoff.

Hope that everyone had fun, but the summer league is over for everyone except the men's league. See everyone August 16th.

What technicality?

Entry #: 2300431
Im having a hard time understanding how they won on a technicality!?

Sam, the two teams might have tied with the same record and winning precentage. However Because the blue team won more of the head to head match ups agaisnt the green team they lead the divison. Example

Lets say the Brewers and the Cubs are both tied at the end of the year they finish with the same record and a .571 winning percentage. To determine who wins, the league has to look at divisional wins and confrence wins and head to head match ups to figure a winner. Thats not a TECHNICALITY its just how its figured. The same was done here. So maybe you shouldnt use the word TECHNICALITY anymore.

Man you guys need to give it a break, its not a technicality its just how a winner is determined. YOure team got second place, deal with it, not the end of the world. As far as a game for fun goes I will umpire it if you guys need...

First of all, I would like to say how much I appreciate the sportsmanship of the players in this league as well as the church league. We really enjoyed playing all of the teams in the league as well as the church league. This league had the most parity which made it so exciting to watch.
We (VAEA Blue) have nothing more to prove. Dan said that the standings are final.
The one thing that all opponents, umpires, and scorekeepers can agree on was that the VAEA Blue won modestly, lost with dignity, and had a lot of fun as a team. If circumstances were different, we (VAEA Blue) would graciously accept second place. Besides, a 100 years from now no one is going to care who won first place in the league.

Sam - At this point "playoff" game would be meaningless. I am not sure which VAEA Green team you would field. I wouldn't be surprised if players like Dan Reid, Lester Bowles, and Rob Summers showed up ready to play with a VAEA Green shirt.
(Dan/Lester/Rob - No disrespect to you. I just used your names as examples.)

It was me that said something about a playoff, but I only meant it for fun......not to determine who the actual winners are......that has already been determined. I was not aware that we had won 4 out of the 6 games with the Green team. It was a great season and very competitive too. WAY TO GO VAEA BLUE!

John...Are you serious?

You play girls on your team all year that have no affiliation with the VA at all (Becca-Gabby-Bobby), and then you wanna call me out for having Sterling play our last game cuz we are short. You are a piece of work buddy.

In case any of you cannot read...I congratulated all, and conceded several times during this thread. I just simply said that I wanna have one last game. I told Dan several times that it would not be for the trophy...but you know what...now I AM calling you guys out. Put your plaque-WITH YOUR NAME ON IT-on the line. Winner keeps it! Play us one more time...since you beat us 4 out of 6 times, you will have no problem beating us again. It will be a walk in the park for you. If you dont want to play though, I understand. Sometimes keeping what you have is more important than proving that it is yours.
Love,
Sam

FYI, Bobby and Becca paid their fees ahead of time, and Gabby filled in maybe about 3 or 4 games at the most to help us when we needed an infielder or may have been short girls because we were playing the Green team and could not borrow when needed. (as where you borrowed a couple of our girls to help you out some games when needed--which was fine, we help each other out when we can..no one wants to forfeit a game if it can be avoided, so you find help when needed) Come on you guys, let's not get carried away here.......Again, I am all for playing but for fun because that is what this is SUPPOSE to be about....we are all competitive because that is only natural when you play sports, but this is for FUN FUN FUN! Cassie, I have no problem with your team...These are my co-workers/friends for petes sake. If we had tied with Aisin...I would have been asking them to play another game as well. Anyway, I just wanted to clear the air about that.

Congratulations for winning the division. Our request still goes though.

I can't believe that there is so much conversation over something that is suppose to be enjoyable and build team spirit.
Sam - I wasn't even going to waste my time and respond but you will not let this thing die. Your responses show your true character. It is not that big of a deal. Nobody will care a couple of seasons from now. We have enourmous respect for your teammates but maybe it is time you moved up to a co-ed A team or a men's team. You are way too serious for co-ed B.
I don't know why I feel as if I need to explain myself, but if it clears the air, then it is worth the explanation. If you recall, you divided up the VA teams and I agreed on the players. You knew about Bobbie (Jana's daughter) and Becca (Jana's friend). You assigned Bobbie, Jana, and Becca to the Blue team. I have the notes, from the team meeting we had prior to the season, locked in my desk if you would like to refer back to them. Gabby (Becca's daughter) came to us and offered to fill in since Cassie and Amy were going on vacation the same time we were playing the Green team. Gabby only played a couple of games when we couldn't get girls from your team. As Kevin says, check the stats, they don't lie. If I wanted to be unfair to the VA employees and really load a team, I could have also asked Lance's girlfriend who is on scholarship with Tennessee to play. We also had LeAnn Mataya and Tammy (Boaz) Lidner play for us during the season so we used employees as much as possible when available. When Josh McGee went down, I offered to play as well as others from the Blue team. You declined and used other people. We loaned you Natalie and Lesia on several occasions. Their contribution and unselfishness is the only reason you didn't forfeit those games and kept you competitive in the standings. I think that you owe a lot of gratitude to Natalie and Lesia.
I feel no need to respond to these treads anymore.

John, you and I both know that whatever both of us do...we do to win. I do not fault you for that.
I will make sure and relay the message to my teamates that the only reason we didn't suck was because of Natalie and Lesia filling in a couple times though.
You want this "tread" to die? Fine. I will send an email out to my team right now explaining that as much as we all love to play softball and look forward to it all year round...you are unwilling to play us one last time.
Thank you for all of this though. You have convinced me, as I have already notified my team...to remain the coach of the team and play in Fall league.
See you out on the field big guy.
Friends forever! :)

Not only are people not gonna care who was in first place a few seasons from now, aside from the team that was in first and the team that thinks they should be in first for some reason, no one will care! I dont know if anyone watches racing, but you may have seen ESPN where Robby Gordon refused to beleive he didnt win the race and was disqualified yet stayed out and even did victory burnouts with the real winner. All this reminds me of that, completely childish and stupid-seasons over-how bout instead of crying about this season and "calling teams out for a 5 dollar trophy" you get better so you wont have to worry about it come fall league or next season???
