Wednesday August 8th: Field 1 - 6:15 Ill State Police vs Ball Diamond Sports (This is for 3rd place. ISP has won 3 of 4 head to head games, so Ball Diamond Sports will need to win both games to take 3rd place.)

| Dan the state police only have 19 games total. How is that possible. I understand that we had a game that was rained out (game 2 of a double header). Why was that game not player? Either the game is a forfit or a win. If Blue Moose forfits then we would be playing the blue moose. Just wondering. Hopefully you can give me an answer since no one at lastnights game could.

| Thanks for the question so I can clarify. If we were to play that game, it would not make a difference in the standings. If you were to play Blue Moose and beat them, you and Gambit would both be 10-10. First tie breaker is head to head. Gambit has won 3 of the 4 games that your 2 teams have played.
That being said, the coach said that it wasn't a big deal for having that game made up. The umpires still get paid for those games since the doubleheader started as well as the scorekeeper. If the game would make a difference, we would play it. But it won't.

| maybe true that the game might not matter . But since everyone pays to play, you can still get swings in?? Not try n 2 b difficult , but I wouldn't want to see that in other ball leagues in marion. You have done a great job for softball in marion. Thanks for your time & effort, Danny !!

| "That being said, the coach said that it wasn't a big deal for having that game made up."
They actually originally said that they didn't have to make up their 5 games. If they wanted teh game, they would have gotten it.

| wasn't saying that the guy running the league is responsible for not playing the game or games !! Simply stating I hope all the coaches or the captains of the teams that are in the league that I play in, would rather play the game!! THAT BEIN SAID !!

| Right, I was just explaining why they didn't make it up. I was quoting what I said earlier. "That being said, ...." was what I said in an earlier post.
The problem with that team was that they were having a big problem getting guys. They were the ones that had to forfeit a double header one night because they ended up getting 5 guys from the A league.
One of the problems with rainouts in the middle/beginning of a game is that the umpires and scorekeepers get paid for that game at that point. Then if we make the game back up or finish where we left off, they then get paid for 2 MORE games. That's the least amount that they get paid for. For example, if umps/scorekeepers show up at the fields at 6:00 and a downpour comes at 6:10, they all get paid for 2 games.
So if we had made this game up, umps and scorekeepers would have gotten paid for 4 games when only 2 were played. Just one of those things. Their coach said it wasn't a big deal since they were having problems getting guys anyway.
