I, uncle Mertog, offer my sincerest apologies to the entire team of A+ for my thoughtless and demeaning post directed toward you. The statements that were made regarding your team do not necessarily reflect those of either the Village Pub team or the Coventry Men’s softball league. They were careless and not well thought out. It was an unfortunate event and one that shall haunt me for the rest of my days here in this league. I take full responsibility for them and hope that someday that you will forgive my callousness. Mark, I am extremely ashamed of myself for the statements that I made and the next time I see you I will buy you your favorite drink.
Mark, I’m sorry buddy….I should have prefaced my remarks with this disclaimer for the humor impaired prior to my remarks.
I know that you had two very grueling games against my “home boys” from the Wyld Stallions as an excuse for your bats being dead, but we played a very tough Crowe Bar that took it to our ass just prior to playing you guys. No excuses from us, we got beat by Crowe Bar…Hats off to them they are a great team. (See how easy that is ) Now everyone knows I love the Stallions more than anyone, in fact how could you not…there just so adorable.
I mean look at these guys, they’re like “Care Bears”. I know that they were going to name their team “My Little Pony” but I think “Care Bears would have been more appropriate. Actually they remind me of Ewoks! I don’t know…what do you guys think?
I just want to take time out here and thank my boys from the Wyld Stallions for wearing out A+ so that my Pub team would have a fighting chance. Thank you guys and party on!

Mark. I would have a lot more respect for you if you just said that you poked the bear and the cage door swung open and the bear got you!
Let’s face it…we played two tough games before playing you and our performance was a little sluggish as well. In addition, we are a bunch of old geezers who rely on selling our medication on the black market to make a living.
My boy Mac and I have been working furiously on a contraption to take his injured ass, as well as the seniors on my team to and from the outfield each inning.
So please drop the excuses and simply chalk this up as a learning experience. Write this down on post-it sheets and stick them all over the office “ Note to self:: I will not believe the Hype that Mertog writes about us being Giant Killers, and we are a mediocre team in a great league…refer to ass kicking we took last week”
Essentially what I am trying to get at is this…..
Mark…I’m very sorry for all of this, and I did not realize that you had such delicate sensibilities.
However; when you write checks with your mouth that your ass can’t cash…then you have to expect some ball breaking to ensue.
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!
To all the guys on A+, from what I saw…you guys are pretty decent guys and I have no quarrel with any of you. I sincerely hope that you do not take any of this personally, because I am just breaking balls here and I’m not really serious. Most people on this website are used to my sick and twisted humor by now and some people actually take the time to read the shit I post. It is all in good fun.

| Alright, my bad. Can we just get past this. We were beaten and that's that. I ran my mouth a bit there. We do have a good team but weakened in a 4 game series. I guess we don't have the energy or stamina to go the distance with such softball studs. All in all, we had a chance in the first game but never got the engine started. Once again, thanks for playing a week early for us Mark. I really do appreciate it. Now as for the game against the PNA in 2 weeks.....just kidding....Looking forward to seeing all of you in the playoffs.

| If you guys are having trouble after 2 games vs the stallions then are to tired for the 2 against the pub and think playing everyone in the playoffs ( which might i add is a one day event ) is going to be easier let me remind you that i am one of the stallions biggest fans as is mert but when u get to the playoffs your gonna see a team like the pub, jr's, crowe, bothelos these are some big guns u guys better hit the treadmills in order to be ready for the long day that is ahead of you....

| Ernie, at present that is a prototype and is reserved for Mac...I'm sure he won't mind sharing with you. Mac was already bitching about it, said there was no cup holder for his beer and no canopy to keep the sun off him, so we have to rework it a bit.

| Now thats the spirit of the whole thing right there Mark, take the ball busting like a man. You're a really good guy and you're building a pretty decent little team...I respect that! I'm not mad at you nor is the ball busting meant to be literal...it's just friendly ball busting, thats what we do here in Coventry. It's sort of like making a bet that the other team has to wear a dress after a loss or buy the beer for the other team. In addition it is great for the readers of this website, gives everyone something to talk about. Nothing more! Good luck, see you in the playoffs.

| On behalf of one of the "new guys" on A+ I accept your apology. We as a team did not show up offensively. However I would not take us for granted when playoff time comes around for there is signifigant improvement. Now to the smack......When you think you are ready to see how softball is played take your "Big Fish Small Pond" teams to the Cranston League on Atwood Ave.
I have played some of your team mates in Attleboro last year,as well as in several tournaments over the past years.So,I do have credibile kowledge of your talent level.
If you think you are ready for a place at the big table enter the States next July. Since my team finished second in the States this year we may
see you in a 2-15 seed.
Untill then is there room for one more in the home run derby?

| fchauvette ..... what team do you play for in atwood? my team is playing atwood fall but only on wed sun nites we couldnt get enough guys together for the other league in atwood. we played clegg in summer league and we play tournaments all the time

| Yo Mac.
My team is "Cracked" We play on Tues and Fri nights in the fall league this year. We usually play Mon and Thurs nights in the summer. I am serious about the home Run derby too...If its full its cool, just wanted to have some fun.

| alrite ya man i know of cracked some guy came up to us a few weeks back and asked us if we would get into a tournament for a lil kid having some kind of problem and they were tryin to raise money we still have the flyer and are getting a team together u should spread the word round this league might get a few others
ya we play under j + j machining in atwood for fall we have a bunch of different names we were harris/charlies/cpm/europa in the past we just cant find one good sponsor
well good to have ya in the league who is playing atwood mon thurs nites? dunkin donuts /sharkx them kinda teams?

| Uncle Mertog. Even though we beat A+, can WE wear dresses next game? A+ all seem to be great guys, still a few guys short. I'm sure most of us sucked or were on teams that weren't that competitive at one time or another. A+ pick up ten or eleven new guys and you should be alright.

| fchauvette - i just wanted to let you know that most of the teams in this league are as mert would say "once a week motherfuckers" but mostof the teams have guys that play in alot if not damned near all the state tournaments as well as travel teams. The talent level in this league is as high as you are going to find for a sunday beer league. There are teams that can play but you have to mix in guys that wouldnt normally play during the week because otherwise you wouldnt be able to field a team on the weeks you had to play in tournaments.
In short remember to judge the league against sunday leagues not against tournament teams... we have guys in this league that have played on recent state championship teams. The talent is here but so is the smack talk. Enjoy it i know i sure do.

Congratulations on your success at Atwood and in the State Tournament.
Unfortunately my guys just can't play softball two or three nights a week. Most of us work opposing schedules, some are on night shifts, some are on day shift, some have weekends off, some have days off in the middle of the week. The only day we are really able to get everyone together is Sunday, and even that is a struggle sometimes due to work schedules. Even when we make it, some of us have to go in to work after the games.
At this juncture of our lives we have more pressing obligations. So the Coventry league is a perfect fit. In my opinion it is the best Sunday Morning league going right now. 16 teams for Sunday morning in fall ball? That is almost unheard of. As Big Ernie said, the talent level here for a Sunday morning league is extremely high. Most of the guys here are still active in many other leagues.
I do have some guys that play in other leagues, but for the most part the majority have already won their state titles 20 years ago and are simply looking for a place to play on Sunday. They are still great ball players that just don't have the time to commit to 3 or 4 times a week.
