Losing a 4 run late inning lead against Stockmen's probably didn't help.

Whose pitching for Stockmen's? If it's Brandon Wolf then I'd say it may be a dandy of a game.

Stockmen's has some talented young players, but when they played St. Louis Park in their tourney championship you could tell that Park's experience still trumps youthful enthusiasm. They are a fun team to watch, however. Good to see a team that always hustles and doesn't spend much time whining.

Another reason why Township should be off the list is the unbelieveable whining they did against Stockmen's Irish. The game changed when one of their players whipped his bat against the back stop and got tossed by the ump. Shortly after that they have to change pitchers and then multiple walks gives Stockmen's the game.

Township has some talent, but the whining doesn't win them any points.

On the hill for Stockmen's tonight is righty Aaron Pfalzgraff and on the hill for Hopkins is lefty Travis Adams. Should be a good game as both teams are playing well.

The Berries are going to climb up that Top 20 list now that they have Deslaurias, Davis, and Konicek back in the same lineup

Stockmen's was up 5-0 before the rains came in last night, at the end of 2 innings.

These are non-conference games so it's hard to know if players were trying different positions, but the first two innings were pretty tough, defensively, for the guys playing the corners of the infield on the Hopkins team. Perhaps it was a bit of rust from the holiday break, but at least for the first two innings Stockmen's looked like the sharper team last night. It would have been good to see how things progressed over the course of an entire game, however. It looked like Hopkins had some solid bats, they just hadn't figured out Pfalzgraff yet. Second time through the lineup would have been interesting to see. Bummer it was canceled.

Just a slight switch as you flip/flopped Skyline and St. Paul Leagues.

Riverview
#1 Mntka
#2 Hopkins
#3 SLP
Park National
#1 Lyons Pub
#2 Angels
#3 Wesley Homes
Skyline
#1 Stockmens
#2 Stillwater
#3 Tri City
St. Paul
#1 Commanding Edge
#2 Rosetown
#3 Shamrocks

I haven't watched anything except Skyline games this year so I won't comment on the other leagues. Stockmen's has added a good mix of players from Bethel with some veteran South St. Paul players coming in. They've been fun to watch. I'm not sure they'll land in the #1 spot, but I think they'll make the state tourney.

Probably Stillwater pulls off #1 and then Stockmen's, the Shark, and Green Mill battle for who gets #2 and #3.

Ultimately, however, I suspect it'll take a lot of good bounces for anyone from the Skyline to go deep in the state tourney.

Question on the side, however,...where are all the Shark fans who used to fill up this forum? I haven't read much from them this year. Did they all retire? =:-P

TA and CLASS A,
Considering Green Mill has swept TriCity (3-2, 5-0) and is 1-1 vs Stillwater/Stockmens, I think you have to put them ahead of the Shark.
Heres how mine would go:

#2 SLP
#3 Hopkins
Park National
#1 Lyons Pub
#2 Angels
#3 Cobras
Skyline
#1 Stillwater
#2 Green Mill
#3 Stockmens
St. Paul

#2 Air Freight
#3 Rosetown

The Shark take on Stockmen's tonight at 7PM at McGuire Field in SSP. First game, the Shark won 6-1. It seems the Shark have had Stockmen's number over the past few years. I can see Stillwater, Stockmen's, Tri-City, and Green Mill going down to the end of the season for who is 1,2 and 3. Each team has their definite strengths and weaknesses which tends to give various advantages and mismatches. It should be a very good game at McGuire for all who care to watch.

Stockmen's is steaming right now...I'd watch out. Tri-City had their number last time they played, so it should be a great match-up. How is Stillwater losing? They are a solid team. Out of pitching? Green Mill has great hitters so it'll be fun to see how there game vs. Stockmen's goes in a couple weeks.

I don't know what was going on with us (Hopkins) against Stockmans, apparently lots of guys missing (including myself) considering we had a 50 year old on deck when they called the game.

We did beat Lyon's Pub tonight, 2-1 on a walk off single by Konicek in the bottom of the ninth. They were a very solid team and although both teams had outstanding pitching we just got a couple seeing eye hits when it counted. Other than that both teams had their chances, only a couple mistakes from each team defensively but none of them lead to runs since the pitching was so good.

Also, if they come to play, I don't think there is anyone with more skill than Minnetonka. From our experience with stockmans, lyons pub & slp. It will be fun for us to play commanding edge twice at the end of the year.

I assume after dropping 17 runs last night the Roosters have now moved into the top 5? If not, I'd like a Congressional inquiry into the matter....

Great game between the Shark and Stockmen's! Stockmen's win 2-1 in 8 innings.

Both teams had opportunities with men in scoring position, but timely pitching and fielding kept runners from crossing the plate.

It was a well played game for both teams and Brad Bornhorst for the Shark showing some class with the pink batting helmet the first time around the order was great!

I don't know the ruling for this year, but traditionally the winner of the league received an automatic bid to the State Tourney. If so, I think Green Mill, Stockmen's, and Stillwater should fight hard to get the #1 in the league because it's going to be a dogfight in the league playoffs for the other two spots!

TA,
The skyline adopted a new playoff format this year, something similar to the Riverview (I believe). Teams 1-3 get a bye, teams 4-9 play a 3 game series against each other (4v9, 5v8, 6v7). The winner of those series' play teams 1-3 in a 3 game series (1vlowest remaining, 2v2nd lowest, 3v3rdlowest). If its not that, its something similar to it, the #1 team doesn't get a bye to State anymore, and the playoff incorporate 3 game series'

That is basically what we do, we play single elimination play in games when we have more than 9 teams (we have 11 this year). Our league caps its members at 12, in part so playoffs dont' take more than two full weeks.

Do the other league play 7 or 9 inning playoff games? Ours are all 9 innings.

We're probably playing that first weekend as it'll take a clean sweep of remaining games to have a chance at top 3.

That said, I think we have one of the best pitchers in the state and we can make a large dent in the playoffs.

If we could play 5-inning games that would be fantastic. Our record would probably be flip-flopped, too. Let's just say the 6th inning (and on) hasn't been good to ye olde Roosters this year....

That and we just kinda suck, too. But that's neither here nor there!

Scoring 17 on the hogs is nothing special, we have been killed with injuries this year. We were only playing .500 ball but that's pretty good for us.

You've heard this before from me, but I will repeat it. That whole play-off format with 2 out of 3 for the final 3 spots stinks. It totally sucks for the less than number 1 teams as they are playing number one for that spot when realistically they should be battling 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 etc for the final 2 and 3 spot like happens in a double elimination bracket. St. Paul league gets it right again. Tim from the Saints

Minnetonka is by far the team to beat. Lyon's Pub and Commanding Edge aren't far behind. I'm pulling for my two favorite teams, Minneapolis Angels and Berries, to have a great showing in the playoffs and the state tournament.

Go Angels and Berries! I can't get enough of Nick Rathmann and Mike Davis!

Was that Jason Cierlik (6-0, 1.43 ERA) who went toe-to-toe with Brandon Wolf on Wednesday until you put in your "closer"? That certainly was a well pitched game with both pitchers doing a fine job of changing speeds and hitting the corners.

On a side note...whose Naughton???? =:-P (Naughton for Nothing!!! Ha!)

Finally...Michelle, it sounds like you're enjoying a Menage et trois!!! =:-P
