No question Green Mill and Loggers will be the best match up

All three match-ups look interesting. I wouldn't be surprised to see all match-ups go to three games to decide the winners. There isn't much difference between any of the 6 teams playing and, as usual, it will come down to pitching and defense to determine the winners.

I'd give the slight edge to Green Mill, Stockmen's, and Woodbury.

I think that somehow, White Bear Township will come out on top. There has to be a way. We are so much better than these teams.

It has been noted that there is a lack of respect for the Rooster.

The Roosters are a good team and might come out on top if they can contain Stockmen's bats

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Stockmen's has won with good pitching and defense. While they are generally patient at the plate, I wouldn't consider their offense to be their premier reason for why they were at the top of the Skyline with Green Mill.

Over a 3 game series I think Stockmen's pitching and defense wins the series with the Rooster rather than their offensive abilities.

Yaz,

How do you think the other games are going to end up?

I think the Green Mill - Loggers matchup will be a fantastic series. Both have very solid pitching and defense. I give the edge to Green Mill in that I think their lineup on offense is better balanced than Stillwater. However, Stillwater will be very scrappy.

The Shark have at least one really solid pitcher and some veterans who have experience in the playoffs. I think Woodbury has just a bit more balance than the Shark and will win in 3 games, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see the Shark step up in this instance.

As I said before, the 6 teams competing in the Skyline are very evenly matched and I don't think there are any clear favorites for these series.

I went with Green Mill, Stockmens, and Woodbury, but the Shark may very well take out Woodbury. I can see all series going 3 games and being nail-biters.

I suggest fans come out and enjoy these series!

For the Skyline League Playoff schedules it says that both Stillwater v Green Mill and the Shark v Woodbury are at White Bear Township Field @ 7:00 Thursday. Obviously one of the games is at the wrong place or time. Anyone have the correct time and place for either of these two games?

Sorry about that...I think I answered my own question. Township has two fields and must have lights for both fields. Correct?

An interesting game between Stockmens and the Roosters. Rather sloppy play by both sides. Stockmens has a costly error on a routine fly ball that would have sealed the win. Instead Roosters come back and tie the game at 9 in the ninth and then go on to win 14-9 in 11 innings.

Instead of defense winning the game it was lack of defense that brought about the outcome.

It will be interesting to see if Stockmens bounces back tonight or not.

There were many games in all leagues tonight. Anyone know what happened in any other games? I can tell you Tonka beat Richfield 9-8 in 11 innings.

I think that Stillwater vs. Green Mill is the best and most intriguing series out of the three. Stillwater took the first game and I think they can win this series in three games.

Very interesting game last night againt Stillwater and Green Mill. Umpires were at an all time worst, might have costed both teams from blowing the game open. Loggers win on an infield fly, tough call, but the ball drops runners try to move up and they throw a guy out at third for a double play to stop the big threat with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. Resulted in Green Mill's starting short stop to get tossed, so he will miss the game tonight. Going to be another great match up tonight!

Our game was tightly contested too, but well played for the most part...very much a pitchers duel. I think Cierlik struck out 13 in 7 IP. Woodbury only had two hits, and scored the only run of the game on a squeeze/wild pitch.

Thanks Yaz...We now how Morneau felt after winning the derby. You are definitely right about the dropped flyball in the 9th and there were some errors as in all games but bottom line is that our guys put up 14 runs and never stopped going. We're looking forward to tonight!

We had a great game. Final was 14-9 in our favor in 11 innings. We really shouldn't have won the game, but due to a 2-run error in the top of the 9th, we were able to score 3 runs to tie it, then another 5 in the top of the 11th. Stockmen's really hit the ball well. Unlike the Mill/Stillwater game, the umpires in our game were pretty solid. It should be another battle tonight...hopefully we are off the field before 11:30.

Horns, you are absolutely right. Roosters kept playing hard the whole game despite a few errors also biting you as well.

Hopefully both teams will play just as hard tonight (but a bit faster! Man that was a slow game last night!) and both teams defense gets a bit sharper.

I saw the TV crew sleeping between innings that thing went so long! Best wishes to everyone who'se staggering through work today.

Tilt your head to the left and try it again!

=:-P

I was hoping to see Naughton and Bjerken go toe-to-toe last night! I wanted to finally determine which pitcher could actually throw the slowest pitch in Skyline history for a strike! But, alas Bjerken stayed at 1st all night. I'll have to wait for another opportunity to take out the radar gun and clean off the cobwebs while waiting for the pitch to come over the plate! Ha!

Last nights game was fun to watch from the standpoint of both teams scoring in bunches and taking leads away from the other. Bjerken hits a two run dinger in the 1st to start off Stockmens only to have Roering set the table and Schmidt drop a 3 run dinger a few innings later for the Rooster to go ahead. Stockmens looks to take a solid lead later on only to have the Rooster come back in the top of the 9th to tie and then go ahead in the 11th. In that aspect it was a fun game to watch.

Stockmens was winning 10-4 after 7. I don't know the final outcome. Someone know the final?

I was able to pull out the radar gun on Nick Bjerken and his knuckle curve. 42 MPH for a strike.

Mr. Naughton brought some solid slow ones, but never dropped below 48.

Both pitchers were on their A game today! Livan would have been proud! I heard he's hoping to catch on with the Roosters next season!

Congratulations to Woodbury and Green Mill!
