1) SLP (36-17) CLASS A CHAMPS and won last 10 games and finished the season 19-5.

2) Mankato ( ? ) Mankato players plus three draftees I believe would make for very good club

3) Dundas (36-13) CLASS B RUNNER UP, very good team, fast, solid defense plus three draftees.

4) Green Mill (30-13) CLASS A RUNNER UPlost to tough park club in very hard fought 9-10 tourney loss. Young, good and confident

5) Minnetonka (49-7) Were flat during tourney, and are cursed against good Shamrock club...Hoy went out and bought a voodoo doll of a Shamrock in a uni for next year....with that record and their schedule they can't be any lower and are a better team then #5.

6) Shamrocks (26-10) Perhaps not this good even though they are solid but they beat Tonka twice in the tourney so how can they be any lower?

7) Lyons Pub (33-9) Too good of a record and team to be any lower...tough opening round bye match up against Park.

8) Chaska (33-13) Very good team, well managed plus three draftees probably make them higher then #8 but tough opening round tourney elimination game loss to Dundas.

9) Elko (38-10) CLASS C CHAMPS and good team but even with draftees I think they are barely a top ten club on this short list.

10) Wesley Homes (19-17) Not too good of a record but 0-7 this season against Park, Pub, Shamrocks, Miesville and Eagen. Two tough match ups against Park and Pub in the tourney.

11) Sauk Rapids (28-7) CLASS C RUNNER UP...I think...good record but not many games....don't forget they get three draftees too.

12) Maple Lake (25-14) CLASS C 3RD PLACE again with draftees.

13) Miesville (24-15) Always a top notch team two tough losses in tourney (4-8 to Mankato and 2-4 to Dundas.

That is it my short list....because I like to do stuff like this and also wanted to say you all don't have to listen to me any more until next year.

Whatever you always reply to me anyway.

Where is Cold Spring??? I know a tough first round State Tournament loss, exactly the reason why the Tourney should be double elimination, but they were outstanding this year in my opinion.

I'd say in order the best teams we played this year were:

1) Chaska Cubs
2) Minnetonka Millers
3) Cold Spring Springers
4) Lyon's Pub Warriors
5) Bloomington Bulldogs / Dundas Dukes

This list goes to show how you do during the year does not necessarily predetermine how you'll do in the end.

Chris, you know I love you man, but putting Chaska ahead of us is ridiculous. We are hands down the best team in the state and quite possibly in the country. We ran ouot of gas...that is the only reason we lost.......

Chaska beat you 2 out of 3 (so did Cold Spring). I'm pretty sure the Shamrocks would disagree with "the only reason we lost" especailly when the year before they lost on a walk off balk...

Mankato (State) is a very good team built with current members of the college team. Along with several former professional pitchers (still young) they would be a fun team to play. I am still bias to my Alma tar but believe the big boys of Class A (Park, Tonka, Shamrocks, Wesley, the list could go on) would be able to handle the kids from the south. After winning 2 of the last 3 tourney's shouldn't they move to class A?? Elko is now B!

Shot - you have a great team. not sure it is tops in the country. Have seen many amatuer teams in the south and even KS, MO & OK that can say that same thing.
I agree with Chris - everyone sould say they lost because they ran out of gas. isnt that what happens? why not play 40 games instead of 60? if that is your reasoning. Point is the betters teams always end up winning.
I dont have a short list - but i believe that Park was the best team in the State this year. They proved it by winning convincingly when it matters!
Also - I feel, top to bottom, best baseball is played in Class A. But the excitement, environment, fields and fan base of Class B & C will always be better - and because of that they will ALWAYS get the recognition!

No, that isn’t what happens to the best teams… that’s why it’s called baseball, the goofy game, because regardless of how good your team is, you can always lose. How many teams in the last 30 years that have won the series can HONESTLY say they were the best team in baseball the ENTIRE regular season and playoffs? … It’s about getting hot and having pitching at the right time. . . . . . Environments of which parks? The top fields in Minnesota are the dome, Veteran’s, Faber, Franklin Rogers and Mayo then Athletic. The only reason you’re giving the class B and C teams credit for the fields mentioned above (besides Chaska) is because they play there when the Northwoods team is out of town so they get what, 5 games there? Minnetonka gets 40+ on veteran’s (what I would argue is the best field in MN right now by far), so that argument is pretty much shot. How is it more exciting to watch a class C game over a class A game? Because people have nothing better to do on a Wednesday night than watch their “high school all star from 8 years ago still grind it out from PoDunkVille”? SLP vs Mtka slugging it out is exciting. Hopkins #1 vs Bloomington’s #1 going 8 strong each is exciting. The River all stars lineup in itself is exciting! 3 guys with affiliated experience, 4 with Indy experience and absolutely raking off the other team. I don’t want to watch two good players stand out because they are on the field with a bunch of hacks like in 'C' ball, just my opinion.

Erdall - I completely agree with you so something was obviously misunderstood. I am from Class A and feel we are superior to B and C. I was simply trying to say that we will never get the credit we deserve, especailly from the MBA.
And im point about the Class B & C fields and atmosphere: My team doesnt have a field or a large fan base and i consider us one of the top teams in the State - so i was just saying they have more than they understand. I guess i am Just a Park National vet of 20 years looking and wishing we had more! (hell even a field would be nice!)
Yeah i get your point about the baseball and the weird things that end up happening. Especially when it comes to good pitching and getting hot at the right time. I was merely saying that i thought Park was the best. I played them during the season and tehn during the State Tourney. I won during the season and Park won in the Tourney. You are right they were hot at the right time and for that reason and the fact that i know how deep they go - I consider them/you the best team in class A. At least in 2008!
(When your No. 1 pitcher, shortstop and catcher do what you guys did just accept the compliment!!!)
I guess my main point is that everyone will have somewhat different opions on who is best and they will use different criteria. I just wanted to stay away from a short list - because there are always teams that could make the list who will not due to personal opinions.

But I agree with most of what you said. And yes, they were one of the best teams we played this year, and definitely put it all together at the right time.
