| Kirk, is the town hall meeting only for players wanting to play in the Masters Division or is it for all USPL members both in favour and not in favour of the new Division (if so why don't we do this at the AGM)? I have heard that only 24 players have given notice to play in the new division (this is only a rumour since I don't see an official statement on the number), when will we know the results of the registration that ended last week? Kirk, does the executive believe they have the support of the majority of the membership to form this new division? I would be surprised since not one player on my team is in favour of this and to be honest I have only spoken to a very small few who actually think its a good idea. I applaud the efforts to to try to rectify some of the concerns but I am very scared that there are a select few individuals who are trying to push this through without going through the proper channels (ie. membership vote at the AGM). I am not trying to be a shit disturber but this is the biggest decision the USPL will make and I personally don't believe the majority are in favour of it.

| So it seems you have enough time to book an “information session” at Angus Glen (presumably at the expense of the league) yet you don’t have the time to answer the direct questions posted above by Yogi over a week ago?
Despite the apparent lack of interest on a league-wide level, despite the uncertainty with regard to what ballparks will be available next year after losing Ashton and despite the fact that the repeated requests for the exec to post the minutes of the meeting where this division was supposedly approved have thus far gone unfulfilled, you continue to push this masters division through while ignoring the league's constitution and the concerns of many league members.
If there is one thing the recent playoff finals has shown us is that our league is not suffering on a competitive level with the many 40 and over players that play as TL/SF and Remax probably have the highest median age than any other team in the league. We have a great league as currently structured. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

How about trying to improve it? How about providing players who have played in the league for 25+yrs a place to play?
There are players on my team that still want to come to the park, play some ball and socialize with other members. They may not come out and say it but you know it must be hard to play against kids 25 to 35 yrs younger. The problem they face is that the Wed league will not let them join. What do they do? Do they quit playing ball altogether? I think what the executive is trying to do is provide these members a place to still play ball against their peers.
I understand your point Wils but I also get what the executive is trying to accomplish. Maybe you should go to the meeting to provide your opinions. You bring up good points that may be helpful to the executive.

| This is a community based league where if you pay you play. It is one of few left in the province where you can play regardless of your ability and/or age. Now that Unionville has grown astronomically in the last 15 to 20 years (actually back when no one cheated and everyone just played ball and there were never any issues) the domographics of our league has changed and we need to accommodate our changing membership. If you are against the new league then you are against the league as a whole, bottom line, end of story. Where were all of you when all the talk last year was to get rid of Crosby because it is too small? Now that you might lose a couple of time slots but not total games guys are finally coming out of the woodwork. Finally someone is being proactive for a change. Wait until you get to an age or an injury causes you to look to a different league, will you be whinning then if this one does not go through. Probably, actually I will guarantee it. Great job Exec., you can never please everyone! If I can rearrage my schedule I will be there tonight but I am sure the whinners wont even consider it.
ps congrats to remax, another title topped with class, never a surprise. Jamie B dont let them get to you.

| To All Markham Gents - some the baseball athletes around town appear to have some misunderstandings with respect to the 40yr+ Masters division we are trying to promote that was approved at our 2003 AGM. This directive will only work if the numbers and other dynamics all come together before we present it at this years AGM. We encourage anyone who is interested, has questions, or issues to come out tonight to an information session at Angus Glen ARENA AT 8 PM - thx

| I'm still trying to figure out why Wils (who's like 33yrs. old) is so against a division that strives to meet the needs of our older members - a division that, as Jimmy points out, I'm sure Wils and other younger members would like in place when he's over 40. Maybe I'm not seeing this right, but it would seem that a division such as the one proposed would allow for 2 equally-competitive divisions to be created and thus meeting the needs of both. Quite frankly there are some members of the league (currently) who if forced to play as it is now because there isn't any other viable option for them who will end up hurt. Now that might be a case for Wils at his lawfirm.

| There has been lot of false information being circulated regarding the "Wednesday Night League", Unionville RECREATIONAL Slo Pitch League (U.R.S.P.L).
If anybody has an inquiry regarding the U.R.S.P.L., I will be on hand this evening to field concise questions and provide information with regard to the U.R.S.P.L.'s Constituion and By-Laws.
Suffice to say at this point in time the U.R.S.P.L. has an open door policy regarding new players and the league experiences an average turnover in it's membership of approximately 12-15 players per season. The U.R.S.P.L. is always looking for new members who enjoy only one night out the diamond per week and members.

| It was announced that this issue will be taken to a vote at the AGM. It will need 50% +1 to pass.
It sounded like the executive will come to the AGM with a Clear proposal of how this league will be run, how the current league will run and if Crosby will be used by the new league.
If you have a strong opinion for or against this new league you will need to show up to the AGM and make your vote. There was a definte push last night for all people in attendance to show up to the AGM and vote in favour of the new league.
I attended last night to voice my opinion on a couple issues.
First, I wanted to make sure this was going to a vote at the AGM. (Which it is)
Second, I don't want this new division to take away "any" Crosby time. I was told I was selfish and I somewhat agree but I really like playing at crosby for many reasons. (There was a vote in the room for all the players interested in the new league whether they would still like to start the new league if they didn't play at Crosby at all. Everybody but 1 agreed that Crosby didn't matter.)
Third. I voiced my opinion that this league has flourished for 35+ years the way it has been going. I feel that with this new league the current league will get more competitive which will bring more "corruption" (sitting people, drafting politics etc..) to a league that is suppose to be recreational. I personally want the league to switch to the "drafting" rule every year so we get to play with different players each year, but I know that's been turned down before.
That was my take. Mike Whalen

| Hi Mike
The reason people did not vote for a mix up every year is because you had to put up your hand. I personally had this feeling. Nobody feels comfortable about abandoning their present team. It's like an insult. If it is done properly, you will be handing in a ballot form with your decision. Personally speaking, it works in other sports very well and people get along much better. The league was designed to meet your neighbours and get to know them. This does not take place when you have the same guys year after year. I don't know anything about most of the other ball players in our league. It's sad. Regards Bob McCullough

| Mike, Thanks for being direct and honest at the meeting. I'm sure your key point about playing at Crosby surprised the executive. I always thought the new division didn't have to have special treatment. Don't take my comment about being selfish personal. What I meant was when members vote on any issue, they shouldn't always vote for what's best for them as individuals, but should also consider what's best for the league itself.
