| Hey everyone. We're gonna get things started for 2009.
Couple big things. 1) John Abney is taking over as league director. He will be solely running the Co-Ed and Church leagues and I will be helping him with the men's league and helping him in this transition. For those that don't know, John has been involved with the league for probably 5 years, back in the Don Baker days with the Church league.
2) I would seriously hold off on spending a lot of money on bats. ASA is apparently changing their bat standards for 2010 and all of the bats we have now will be obsolete, so we'll be looking into different avenues for the league for 2010. This will be talked about at the meeting in more detail.
3) Scorekeepers. If anyone knows of someone who is reliable and wants a part time job in the summer, we need reliable people who have some knowledge of scorekeeping and constant access to a computer for scorekeeping this year. Pay is $8.50 a game.
4) Meetings. The first meeting will be Tuesday March 24th. We are not going to be breaking the leagues out this year, it will be a meeting for everyone. Our second meeting will be Tuesday April 21st. Money WILL BE DUE at that meeting and schedules for the first couple weeks will be up on the website by that Friday. If your money is not in, your team will not be on the schedule.
5) Bounced checks. If the check for your team bounces, your team will not play any games until you pay the balance in full PLUS a $50 pain in the butt fee. This has happened too many times, so please pay cash if you need to. Just don't create extra work and fee's for the league.
Please let everyone know when the meetings are. We are going to start contacting the managers that we have numbers for within the week.
Thank you and welcome John Abney.

| Oh yeah, forgot a couple things. Men's and Co-ed are going to be 20 games long. The 24 game season was too long with teams not able to get players at the end and with rainouts it pushes it too far into the end of summer.
Church will be 16 again.
So league fees will go down, John has the exact numbers as I lost my sheet that we figured out. But I believe with the ASA registraton fee Men's/Co-Ed A & B leagues are less than $600 and church is under $500.
Also, the Men's league will have an Elite division this year. One big rule that we'll go over in the meeting is that a team in the "A" division can have NO MORE than 3 "Elite" players on their team. "B" division teams can not have any nor can they have an "A" division player. Teams caught cheating on this rule will forfeit those games. Players can only play on 1 team and they will be allowed to play with another team in the same division or a higher division only ONE TIME.
If you have a player on your A team who is picked up one night to play on an Elite team, that's fine. But if he plays on that same team again, he is then considered an Elite player on that Elite team and will count against your 3 Elite player rule.
If it's confusing, we'll go over it at the meeting.

| How does all of this work? My wife and I have never played softball before (since high school), and we would like to join a league. We are not looking for something overly competitive right now, but we would like to get on a team. I could possibly even come up with enough people to start a team. Can somebody tell me how the church leagues work and if that is what we should look into? Any basic info would help.
Thank you.

| All of that stuff is the same Gary except for the Elite league being added and "A" league teams can have 3 "Elite" players on their team. B teams can not pick up an Elite or an A player. I'll have specific rules at the April 21st meeting for men's league.
