| Ok, guys, I'm going to try this and see if it makes. I am going to try and hold a Rock and Jock style softball tournament on May 9th in either Dexter or Sikeston. I would like 6-8 teams and need to know as soon as possible if you want in so that we can get the props made that need to be made. Entry fee with be $50 per team to cover expenses only (field rentals, t-shirts for the winners, props, etc). I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE MONEY OFF THIS THING, JUST WANT TO DO SOMETHING FUN AND DIFFERENT. I posted about this on softballfans and apparantly it goes on in some other places and they say it is the funnest tournament they have. In case some of you younger folks don't know what Rock and Jock is, MTV used to have celebs and athletes play together with crazy rules and different obstacles on the field. I have some of the stuff thought up, but have more to try and think up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here are some of the rules that will be used:
- If a ball is inside the fence, it is in play (no foul balls unless they go over the fence) - 2 home runs an inning, after that it is a run for the other team - A special softball painted like an 8 ball that you can call for once an inning. It would be a .47/525 or higher ball and if you hit it out, it is worth 8 runs. (this doesn't count as one of your 2 per inning) - Signs in different spots on the field that if you hit them they will be worth different things (double, triple, 10 runs, etc.) - A gymnastics mat stood up behind second base that is in play - You can have one extra fielder on defense anywhere on the field, but he must sit in a chair and can't get out of the chair. If he catches a fly ball in the chair, it ends the inning. - Every other inning, the lead off man draws a card from the umpire. On that card will be a stipulation for that inning, such as everyone has to hit opposit handed, start w/ a man on second base, start w/ the bases loaded, inning over, add 5 runs to your total, etc.
I would love to make this thing happen just to have some fun other than the normal softball game.
