| Ok, i've been thinking... and this topic is not meant to stir anything up... just thinking of some suggestions of how the league could be better... i think we should all be doing this instead of complaining when things aren't done our way...
ok, so instead of playing a full season with 2 small divisions that never play each other, how about one single division again? last year was fine i thought... even with 16 teams. I think i like that better. I don't care if my team doesn't get to play every single team. For instance, this year there are 13 total co-ed teams. I don't mind only getting to play a 20 game schedule and each week be a different team. So 10 double headers are drawn randomly for each team, creating their schedule for the year...
... so postseason rolls around and you take the 4 top teams in the division and play 1 vs 2 ... 3 vs 4 on a normally scheduled Co-ed night. Each game is only 1 single game so theoretically, it should not take any longer than normal. so winner of 1 vs 2 plays winner of 3 vs 4 for the championship all in one night... umpires are paid the same... scorekeepers the same... So in all, with the postseason, it would be a 22 game season...
...BUT there would be a definite winner and the whole regular season was not played for nothing. A 4th place team would have a chance at a #1 team (which does not usually happen) .. I don't know, tell me what you guys think... is this a reality or am i just nuts? haha

| MY COMMENTS ARE IN ALL CAPITALS....
Ok, i've been thinking... and this topic is not meant to stir anything up... just thinking of some suggestions of how the league could be better... i think we should all be doing this instead of complaining when things aren't done our way...
THANKS CORY AND I’LL DO MY BEST TO ADDRESS YOUR COMMENTS. ONE THING I WANT TO POINT OUT THOUGH. THIS IS WHAT THE LEAGUE MEETINGS ARE FOR. WE ADVERTISE THESE WELL IN ADVANCE AND HAVE 2 OF THEM EACH SEASON BEFORE THE LEAGUE STARTS. WE ALWAYS ASK FOR WHAT THE PLAYERS WANT AND WHAT THEY WANT CHANGED. WE TALK OUT THOSE PROPOSED CHANGES AND VOTE ON THEM. THAT’S HOW IT’S ALWAYS BEEN DONE SINCE I’VE BEEN INVOLVED.

THERE ARE A COUPLE REASONS WHY WE HAVE 2 DIVISIONS. 1 IS BECAUSE OF TALENT. WE TRY AND PAIR PEOPLE UP AGAINST SIMILAR TALENT. 2 IS THAT IT REALLY STINKS WHEN YOU’RE TIED FOR 1ST OR IN 2ND BY A GAME AND YOU DIDN’T GET TO PLAY AGAINST THE OTHER 1ST PLACE TEAM BECAUSE OF A RANDOM DRAW.

WE WILL DO THIS IN THE CO-ED B DIVISION. THERE WILL BE A PLAYOFF BECAUSE THERE’S NOT A WAY FOR TEAMS TO PLAY EACH OTHER AN EVEN AMOUNT OF TIMES.

WE DO THAT IN LEAGUES WHERE THERE’S NOT A WAY FOR TEAMS TO PLAY AN EVEN AMOUNT OF GAMES AGAINST EACH OTHER IN THEIR OWN DIVISION. WE’RE ALWAYS OPEN FOR IDEAS, MAKE SURE TO BRING THEM TO THE LEAGUE MEETINGS OR KEEP THEM FLOWING ON HERE. I’M NOT SHOOTING DOWN WHAT YOU’RE COMING UP WITH, JUST GIVING YOU ANSWERS AS TO WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO.

| Well i guess i should have brought it up at the meeting then... but nobody wants to be that guy asking like 20 questions while everyone else is just waiting to leave... all i know is i've played in 2 other leagues in the past, this one is by far my favorite as far as the level of competition, umpires, scorekeepers, etc... BUT the other leagues played a regular season that ended with some sort of playoff... i just remember last year trying to explain to my team what the last game was like... "ok, well the season is over... this is the playoff game but it doesn't really mean anything... it's basically just another game." i don't know...
you guys are trying to accommodate hundreds of people and i really do appreciate it! and basically, i really don't care about playing teams an even amount of times... maybe it wouldn't be a random draw... i don't know...
well maybe you could still have 2 divisions, just break it up by last year's outcome... 1st place team goes to Division A, 2nd- B, 3rd- A, 4th - B...
i just know there's tons of people who don't address any issues with a solution, they just complain! so i'm trying to be different :)

| They did ask the question at the league meeting as to having two divisions in Co-ed and mostly the consensus was that people were fine with it either way. I agree with Cory that I prefer to play different teams, but I also agree with Dan cause my team has been in a tiebreaker situation which ended strange due to playing different teams. I also think it is hard to mandate whether a team is in A or B league based on standings, due to player turnover. A division winning team one summer could have practically a whole new face the following year due to player turnover so I dont know if it is fair to force them into the upper echelon league. That also happened to my team in the past...We were mandated to join the A league for fall (I think) and we were crushed by every team up there cause it was a different team we were putting on the field. In the end, I guess you win some and you lose some, and putting everyone in the same division would make sure that holds true. That is probably what would be my preference for the future. Only my 2 cents though.

| After reading this it got me thinking. Maybe an overhaul of the playoff system wouldn't be a bad idea I don't really know.
The main thing I wanted to comment on was the combination of the leagues, I always thought the that it worked out great with the 2 leagues its much more fair and competitive. Fall league we all played in the same league and some of the blowouts were ridiculous. I never understood why some people were always so set on playing everyone, winning or losing by 20 sucks.
There are a few teams in B that may be able to have a decent record playing A league teams. I would think that the team that wins B this year would be about .500 in A. As a whole though a B team will loose to almost any A team, heck there are B teams getting run ruled be other B teams on a regular basis based solely on talent.
I see no reason to have those teams play even better teams. I'm sure losing by 20 in four innings every night, and not playing the 1 or 2 teams you are evenly matched against and love playing because its actually a close game based on a random draw would ruin anyones season.
Its all for fun and everyone pays the same amount of money to enjoy the sport not to be punching bags, or win with their eyes closed.

| although this is an organized and structured league, i thought this was all in fun. my team bw maintenance is getting creamed because were playing teams that used to be in the a league and moved down, but mostly because were a new team and never played with one another before. even though we got stomped i still would like to thank you guys for putting in your time to run this league and give us something to do on wednesday nights. it would be nice to play people of our amatuer status but its whatever. its all in fun.

| J, I personally couldn't agree with your comments more.
Sam, all good points and I do remember that happening. But if people want a change, bring it up in the league meeting and we'll vote on it.
We do have seperate divisions so that teams don't get blown out. I've seen it before I got involved in the league where Budweiser literally finished half of their men's games in 6 total innings. A team doesn't get better when half of their players get less than 3 at bats a game. I'd even seen where 2 players didn't get an atbat in one of the games. 3 up, 3 down all 3 innings.
Again, make sure to bring it to the meetings. It's your league, we've just volunteered to run it for you. You decide the rules for the league, we just help to make sure everyone is clear on them and to give you a game time.

| Cory, that division is set up so that you play the other 5 teams twice in double headers. That will give you 20 total games. If you guys want to chip in and get one of the umpires to do your games and do your own tourney, you're more than welcome to. We'll get the fields set up for you but 20 games is all we've charged for.

| Cory, this is an idea. Again, John Abney has all the final say so on things now, but I'm just answering some questions.
In the Fee Breakdown, each team has paid $1 each game for trophies. That's $20 a season per team and for your division with 6 teams, that means $120.
You could have 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th. Then 1st vs winner 3/6 and 2nd vs winner 4/5. Then the winners of those 2 games play. That's 5 games total. If you were to have 1 umpire do those games, that would be $125 ($25 a game vs 5 games).
If you could get ALL 6 coaches to forego the trophies, then I wouldn't have a problem with scheduling this for 1 night. I don't think John would either. But again, it would have to be unanimous for us to allow it though.
