| I have to say the deal with forfeiting in this league are harsh. I don't understand why the league monetarily benefits from a forfeit (if it's called an umpires fee, shouldn't it go to the umpire?)
With all the games we were expected to play this year, the limit of forfeits before dismissal from the league probably should have been increased, or our league season should have been extended.
I feel terrible for College Hill. With one forfeit away from being next, I can imagine how they feel. I for one would like to see them finish out the season. I wish them all my best, see you next year.

| In response to the forfeit rules being too harsh, Leah should think about what it's like to be on the other side of the fence! What about the player who asked their employer to schedule around their softball games, the player who arranged for a babysitter, the player who scheduled their vacation around games, or the player who drove over an hour to play that night. Is it fair to them? Our Leagues Roster rules are very accomadating and laxed when it comes to fielding a team. Very few leagues have an open roster for the entire season. Some limit the number of players on the roster. We do not. We have names on our roster including many of our fans and my 7? year-old mother. More than once she has stood helplessly in right-field so we could play until a player showed up! You can grab anybody around to take the field which is allowed in very few leagues. It was brought up by someone that maybe the forfeit fee should go to the other team since they were the ones who were inconvienced. I agree with that. It's not easy running a team and I respect all those Coaches who have to go through the headaches of making sure there are enough players there each game. Hopefully Leah will have more success next year because her team was starting to come around the second half of the season. Good Luck Slick Chicks!

| The post above from Zucca was from me, Donna Riegel. I did not know that the nickname would be used, I thought it was just another verification tool.

| The forfeit rule is in the league bylaws (please take note: they are NOT my rules, they are league rules) The majority of teams wanted the other teams to pay a penalty for not showing up. The fee was set as the umpire fee plus the assignor fee. You have to think of it like a "speeding ticket," instead of paying for the umpires (which obviously you already did with your league fee). We vote on stuff every year so perhaps you'd like to bring this up at the next meeting for discussion.
