| We were so humble, in fact, so humble we baked a pie with all the humble that was left over. If you want a piece of that humble pie let us know.
The fans spoke, they wanted us to be a little more edgy, so we were. It ruled. Actually, we kind of were in parts, like where we talked about how we lost to the hornets, and a bit about Friday night, because Ellsworth was actually a great team.
But then we went over the top.

| You're a hard book to read Frank, I can't tell if your post was serious or sarcastic. I do know that Teschnasty and I are quite sarcastic, and like to push things a little bit. We gave some credit where credit was due, but also tried to make it entertaining. If we got under your skin a little bit, then I think that's a good thing. The podcast isn't there to make everybody feel good and love us forever.
If you're going to be as loud or louder than Clay I may need some earplugs Friday.

| As much as I hate to admit it, you did get under my skin a little with the whole "just another Knight win" comments. It is also hard for me to say that somebody should be more humble!! Semi-serious, semi-sarcastic, I maybe don't know for sure which it is.
It also sucks to hear shit talked about a team that I care about, but that is part of the deal. That was pretty bold talking so much crap about KD's. Those guys in Solon are going to be pissed, they were recommending it to everyone.
See you guys this weekend, best of luck to you and I hope I don't get "Taylor/Clay drunk" and start heckling your players.

| Not sure what team we talked crap about that you care a lot about. If it was the millers, I don't think we talked one bit of crap. Just listened to it again, maybe I missed something, but I doubt it. I agree with Deluxe, we gave a lot of credit where it was deserved.
Frank you're right with the KD's thing, I hope they're not too mad about that. We just had a not so great experience. Food it's self was really good, but all other things added up to just being OK.

| For a team that talks about short fields CONSTANTLY you sure don't hit many home runs on those tiny fields. Last time I checked they don't move the fences in and out every half inning.
Also, back off on the dirt infield thing. I'd rather play on Brill, a well maintained field with a dirt infield, than that sand pit, bumpy outfield, terrible music playin, sloppy drunk fan park you boys play at.
Sorry if that wasn't good, I'm new to the trash talking thing, maybe I'll enroll in Jolly's school. Will they include how to yell "i've got it" while opposing teams are attempting to field fly balls at the school?
But seriously, good luck this weekend boys, I'll be cheering for you.

| I hope everyone doesn't take everything we say seriously on that podcast. It's meant to be a funny thing and exaggerations happen from time to time. We weren't in any way trying to cut down the Solon guys or anything like that, they were an awesome bunch of guys and very hospitable the entire weekend. They put on a hell of a tournament.
As for the "just another Knights win" comment, don't really care how you took that one. Once again, kind of trying to be funny, kind of not. We win a lot of games, so do other teams. Anyone taking offense or getting irratated over that one probably needs to lighten up a bit.

| Nope, not backing off the dirt infield thing, actually, I was just telling Erik that when I went on that rant I wasn't even thinking of your field, I was picturing the Solon field. Thats the honest to god truth. Could have also been your field, seeley, and I think there are even a few others. Best field in the league = Cumberland...
"Also, back off on the dirt infield thing. I'd rather play on Brill, a well maintained field with a dirt infield, than that sand pit, bumpy outfield, terrible music playin, sloppy drunk fan park you boys play at."
You have the sand pit, but you got me, it's a bumpy outfield, sloppy drunk fans rule. You're right, you may want to enroll in Jolly's School of Trash.

| I would agree that I would rather play a true hop infield than a concrete slab with a ten inch high speed bump just before the ball hits the dirt, and dont get me started on the outfield with the trees hanging over the fence and the potholes. You are right Dirk, Solons infield sucks, it reminds me of Weyerhauser's beach. But our infield is pretty damn true.
The "just another Knights win" sounded like "Ho hum, this is easy... everyone sucks but us"(to me). You guys have a ways to go, and I hope you do, kind of.

| Just because an infield is "true" doesn't mean it's a good baseball infield. Shit, we could blacktop our infield and you'd get nothing but "true" hops, but that's not baseball. You could argue the same about short fences too I suppose. Anyway, as usual we were having a little fun, some fields are better suited for certain teams, but I'd play baseball just about anywhere. Except miller park, what a dump of a stadium that is.

| It actually wasn't a long ways to the top for the 72' dolphins. We only had to win 13 games, but we're still the best team ever to play any sport.
PS. I'm suing you for your podcast. You can't talk about me like that, I'm Mercury Morris, and that's my real name.

| I don't want to get too serious or anything but I would argue that Brill plays more like a professional infield than most fields in the indy league.
We've tried to do some watering to get the right firmness in the infield this year and I think it's helped. I would say that a ball runs through the infield at a speed and with bounces similar to a top tier grass infield with good low grass.
I think the grass infields look great but they are more of a hindrance when they are not properly maintained.
As for the short fences there is a long lineage of fields with interesting dimensions and short fences, a tradition that is coming back in baseball now. There are no short short parks in MLB today but some of the greatest fields in the past had staggeringly short dimensions down the lines, some had staggeringly deep fences, but they had character.
The "cookie cutter" ballparks with uniform dimensions that were built in the 70's are now considered by most to be the most unimaginative and disliked parks in baseball history.
I don't want to make this a serious debate over who has the best park because I know each park has its merits and everyone has their preference, but I personally would prefer a tiny park with character than a "real sized" park that looks like it came out of a geometry book.

| I've never played on an MLB field so I can't say if you're right or wrong but this is how I think the indy league fields should be ranked best to worst: 1. Cumberland - well maintained nice looking field 2. Hayward (pretty much a tie w/ cumberland, could easily flip flop) 3. Grantsburg - decent field, didn't want to be too biased and put the Knights at 3 4. Haugen Knights - we play there, duh 5. Bruce - looks nice at first glance and thought about putting it at number 3 or 4, but it kinda sucks and has a short porch 6. Siren - middle of the road 7. Spooner - 565 foot center field 8. Haugen Hornets - borrow the Knight's field on game day 9. Brill/St. Croix/Seeley/Stanberry - 4 way tie because they all have dirt infields, and obscenely short fences Just one guy's opinion.

| I have no respect for your opinion, that was possibly the worst listing I've ever seen. I can't even argue with you because that is like trying to have a political debate with someone who is a rabid ralph nadar supporter, you're opinion is irrelevant because it is so far afield of any reason.

| Here's mine, in order from best to worst.
Hayward Cumberland Haugen (biased big time because we play there) Grantsburg (if i remember right it's decent Bruce Brill St. Croix Stanberry Seeley Spooner Siren
PS, how sweet would it be to have Stendhal Syndrom? If you don't know what it is please look it up.

| ok I have to weigh in here. First to worst ball parks:
1. Cumberland (little character, but great surface) 2. Bruce (the sun break keeps it from being 1) 3,4,+5=tie Haugen (Hornets), Hayward, and Gburg Haywards light are too low, high pop ups go over them and you lose sight of the ball, Haugen needs a lot of work or else soon it will be Spooner, and the reason that G-burg is in there is because the last time I was there the wind blew over the dugout so we had to sit in the sun. The lips in Hayward and Haugen suck.
6.Brill-character counts!! 7. Seeley Barrel Races!!! 8. Stanberry good dugouts, but no air flow. 9. Siren never fun playing ball on that field 10. St Croix- sand pit and Glassy(homerun)maker 11. Spooner - just plain terrible, no batter eye, grass same color as dirt, just sucks.
Switch St Croix and Siren

| Good list, similar to mine, we had Bruce different big time. I think it's because I don't like small out fields, because you can't play a normal out field position normally end up playing shallow and that puts you out of position from playing on normal fields (normal is used loosely, .38 special style) it has little do do with the home runs. For instance, if you're playing left field and the fence is 280 you're probably playing more shallow than if the fence was 325. The problem this causes is when there is a sharp line drive hit that should go for a base hit, the guy on the shorter field can make a play on that ball easier.
Either way, it'll be fun to see how others rate the fields in the indy.

| I have to rank these in 2 seperate lists because there is a looks element and a playability element that are hard to combine. For example, hayward looks great but the grass is always too long, they have sprinkler heads/drains in the outfield that are going to hurt someone, and as Frank said the lights are too low. So here are my lists
Looks 1. Hayward (not as nice looking a playing surface as Cumberland but Cumberland has no character, I actually miss the bleachers in center here, I thought that was cool) 2. Bruce 3. Cumberland (field looks so nice it makes up for lack of character 4. Brill (character: short porches down the lines that jump out quick, the home plate shaped grass cutout, and the signs in the outfield) 5. Haugen (if the playing surface looked better it would be right up near the top, love the grandstand and the trees behind the wall, wish it had interesting dimensions though) 6. Grantsburgh 7. Seeley 8. Solon 9. Stanberry 10. Siren 11. Spooner
Playability: 1 & 2 Tie: Cumberland and Brill: Cumberland would win this if their field could take water better and if they cut the grass lower. 3. Hayward (would also be right at the top if they cut the grass lower) 4. Bruce 5. Grantsburgh 6. Haugen, infield lips getting bigger and the outfield is getting really bad. 7. Seeley 8. Solon, I love you guys but it's a sand pit on the infield and a bumpy wasteland in the outfield. 9. Siren, there is a raised bump that runs across the entire field 10. Stanberry, the outfield isn't grass, it's a matted down collection of pine-needles and tundra weeds 11. Spooner, it's sad to see what that field has become, used to be one of the best

| Bruce...ranked that high??? What is the matter with you people - there are water sprinklers in the dirt of the infield...if you hit a routine ground ball right, it hits off the sprinkler head and is a sure base hit. Take the sprinkler heads out of the infield dirt...then maybe...it moves up the charts. How about the rolling crest of Weyerhaueser...another dirt infield with character...bring back the Black Hens!

| 1) About KD's, don't worry about cutting on the joint. A bunch of us ended up waiting like an hour plus for our food this weekend. They really dropped the ball on that one and left us hanging.
2) I'd agree with most of the lists as far as ballparks go, and though our field is a freaking parking lot, I enjoy the atmosphere at our place. I won't go as far to rank em all, but places like Cumberland, Siren, Grantsburg, etc. leave a lot to be desired as far as "enjoyablility" of playing there, to ME, anyways. And the short fences play for both teams hitting, but I digress..
3) Good PADcast... Sheeeit, going into Sunday, I thought our league might get 5 teams to state. But good luck to you guys Friday. I'll try to make it down. Tell Howard I'm riding with him in his beetle to his house and I'm gonna piss myself on his floor. LATERS
