| It's been a slow year for the forum, partly due to my lack of posting and thus a lack of RyMan hating. So I figured with the season over I'd write a couple of lengthy posts to generate some discussion and/or animosity towards myself. Here's my mock draft for Gopher's tournament with some small annotations of why I think players will be picked where they are (I'm only doing the first few rounds):
BEST AVAILABLE:
OF- 1. Ernie Wright 2. Tom Cornicelli 3. Jeremy Edwards 4. Jeff Considine 5. Craig Riley
IF- 1. Neil Lesniak 2. Mike Mansour 3. John Brosnahan 4. Ricky Keenan 5. Ryan Ruggieri
P- 1. Dean Amoroso 2. John Brosnahan 3. Ricky Keenan 4. Ryan Ruggieri 5. Darin Mathews
DRAFT (serpentine style):
Round 1.
1.Ernie Wright (near triple crown winner) 2. Neil Lesniak (most complete hitter and versatile player in Coventry) 3. Mike Mansour (would have been my pick for finals MVP had PNA won. 5 tool player and is the best combination of hitting and fielding at a key position) 4. Jeremy Edwards (can solidify any outfield and be the heart of any batting order) 5. Ricky Keenan Round 2.
6. Ryan Ruggieri (my C+ glove drops me to the second round) 7. Tom Cornicelli (manager with 3rd pick now has 2 of 5 best available outfielders) 8. John Brosnahan 9. Craig Riley 10. Jay Mustivitz (my pick for Rookie of the Year)
Round 3.
11. Dan Godin (second best leadoff hitter on the board to Mike Mansour, and can play any infield position with an A+ glove) 12. Jay Johnstone (another great leadoff bat and a mean double-play combo with Lesniak at SS) 13. Jeff Considine (team #3 has 2 infielders already and now wants a bat for the outfield. Not the best defensice outfielder on the board, but he'll knock in enough runs to make up for it 14. Ron Horta (team #4 is outfielder heavy already, so they'll need a top tier shortstop if one's available. Ron is a smart 3rd round pick) 15. Dave Doucette (team #5 takes the best available hitter on the board) Round 4.
16. Eddie McLaughlin 17. Mike Cote 18. Ian Smith 19. Ray Marot 20. Ryan Clark
Round 5.
21. Jay Holland 22. Shawn Lenihan 23. Daren MacDonald 24. Bob Sisson 25. Scott Beverly
RECAP:
Team #1. Ernie Wright Jay Mustivitz Dan Godin Ryan Clark Jay Holland
Team #2. Neil Lesniak Craig Riley Jay Johnstone Ray Marot Shawn Lenihan
Team #3. Mike Mansour John Brosnihan Jeff Considine Ian Smith Darren MacDonald
Team #4. Jeremy Edwards Tom Cornicelli Ron Horta Mike Cote Bob Sisson
Team #5. Ricky Keenan Ryan Ruggieri Dave Doucette Eddie MacLaughlin Scott Beverly
So there you have my mock draft. Let the constructive comments begin!!

| Tommy C was on the list Gopher emailed me. That's what I went by. I didn't do my picks based on stats alone. I took a lot of things into account. Only towards the end did I do "best available". Good strategy with Ryno.

| Only an idiot picks a fat outfielder over an in shape SS with Neils hitting ability. Neil goes numero uno to anyone with half a brain. Power hitting, plus sized outfielders with no arm and multiple knee surgeries are a dime a dozen. Hinske, Cornicelli, Ianelli etc, etc, etc.

| I am with EW on Neil being the first pick. EW will go in the first round though based on his hitting and solid glove. Ryman your tooting your own horn a little too much. Your glove does drop you down some but you forgot to mention that almost everyone doesn't like you and will not want to spend the whole day with you, so that will drop you a couple more rounds. But you entertain me so you could play on my team if I was a coach. You might be a late round steal.

| I think Ryman did a decent job with his " mock draft" Ryno so you should cut his some slack...He put some time & effort into it and he is pretty close on a lot.
My Question is who is the sleeper in the whole draft? Besides, if it wasn't for his post we wouldnt have anything to talk about right now.
I will check with Tommy C. Last I heard he was ok for next Saturday.

| So Ryman, why am I the #1 ranked pitcher according to you but not worthy of a pick in the first five rounds? Being old and fat doesn't get you much respect I guess.

| Just as politicians use polling data to decide if they are going to run for office I am using this mock draft to decide if I am showing up for this thing....I don't think I can suffer the humiliation of being picked last again. Ian- I still remember that from the 16 inch softball game you fuck.

| Guapo, I think pitchers are gonna be like kickers in fantasy football drafts for this thing. Every team needs one, they're important, but you're gonna hope to get the best one later on. The only reason I have Broz and myself picked earlier is because we aren't listed as pitchers only like you and Darin Mathews are. You're my sleeper pick. One of the managers may get nervous and snag you in the first 5 rounds, but I have a feeling people are gonna go with best available for the first few rounds.

| Only two things in life are for sure, Death and Taxes. Don't count me out yet, the wife is having the kids birthday party that day but I may be able to play. Not that anyone cares because I suck. It is true my wife is the boss, I won't lie, I want to play and will be negotiating with her today so that I can play, not that anyone cares because we all know i suck.

| What fucking peace pipe are you smoking from?? Who the fuck would pick Mike Cote #17??? Possiblly the top five player in Coventry. I guess it would come from a guy who picks himself as a top 5 infielder and a top 5 pitcher. I would personally take my boy HOV over Ryman anyday, and he mock picks him at 21??? Had he played at Foster he would of destroyed your homerun totals in the 4th week! Think a re-evaluation is in order, this time common sense isn't optional.

| Yea....I would agree. I can't believe that I didn't make the list. If I had played at Foster and been sober more often I would have hit at least .300.

| Not enough people know Cote that's why. I actually thought he would slip some because you never hear his name mentioned. But he is a really good player and someone will pick him early.

| Cote is a great ball player and an even better teammate. I got to know him this summer by playing with him on Trust and I realized real quick that he is a stud in the infield as well as outfield and he is a great hitter. The problem is that Cote plays for that fucked up little ewok. Nobody knows who he is because when they play the crowe team everyone is:
1) arguing with Hinske 2) arguing with Dionne 3) laughing at Slezak's attempts to field grounders 4) wondering what they feed Hov

| Cote is very very underated as a player and a teammate. I would put him right up there in the top three for a pick. He puts up with my shit and thats a very tall order. If you argue with the ewok well i can't help you. If you allow him to ruffle your feathers then you got some serious issues. The poor kid just wants to win so bad. And he is very clever in his piss off tactics.
Arguing with me is just plain fun and if it bothers you its probably because you think you are better than you are.

| Slezak, I can agree with you on one point of your little rant. Cote is underated in Ryman's mock draft. There is one point at which we are both in major disagreement. Ryman is a top five pitcher all day long. He is also a top five infielder because of his bat. He is also a solid 1B. Just by bat alone I would take him in the top 5. Everyone likes to hate on him. I will vouch for this kids abilities and i wish more would look past the bad haircut and stupid kirby crush. As for the homerun totals comment, Ryman hit very few solo homeruns and you dont bat just under .700 and drive in 85 rbis by luck. Everyone was in agreement that Arties team was one of the best in the league. Well, Ryman was their MVP from what I can see number wise anyways and from what I hear he was a solid teamate. I think the Ryman hating needs to come to an end.
PS - Cote hits long popups not homeruns and Hinske is as fat as I am.
