| so, i hate to complain about stupid stuff but is there any way we can get some competent scorekeepers for men's league this fall for the top field? it's really frustrating to have to wait to see what the actual score is until the middle of the next inning... especially when it's a close game in the 9th inning! now if this upsets anyone, or if the person is related to one of you, i'm sorry, but i would much rather see the score AS IT'S HAPPENING than the next inning when it's already too late... i don't know, maybe i'm missing it... am i the only one noticing it?

| it is tough for that to happen, but look at it this way. 2 years ago there werent any scoreboards at all and each team had to keep their own book.

| Have you ever heard of keeping your own book. If these un competent score keepers can do it, then you can to MR. ITAKESOFTBALLTOSERIOUS.

| ok "B", i already do keep our own book but we don't keep the other team's book... we usually write down their score each inning, but my complaint was every inning was wrong... then i had to go back there and correct them. so i end up looking like a douche bag but in all reality, i'm just a person who wants it done right. Nothing worse than losing a game because the score was not right at the beginning of the inning and nobody could fix it... i don't know, i don't think there's anything wrong with taking things seriously... it's people that don't take things seriously AT ALL that ruin everything. I am thankful there are actually scoreboards and everything, but we have to keep our own book anyway so there's really no advantage there.

| Maybe I am missing something but the 2 weeks we have played on the top field this fall the scorekeepers have been just fine. Last week the score keeper was good, I cant remember his name, and the week before James Isaacs' daughter kept score and she did just fine. Here is an idea if you arent happy with the score keepers and think they could be better why dont you step up to the plate and help out and keep score. I get tired of people who do nothing but complain about things and then offer no help in finding a solution.

Your lucky im not a score keep because i would post all your errors and backwards K,s.

| First of all, learn how to use grammar, punctuation, and words in a sentence. Second of all, i have worked as a scorekeeper in the past. You guys are jumping all over me like I'm talking about your mom! Just relax, take a breath, and hear my point... I respect the leadership of this league (not so much some of the players at times) but that's another story. I don't just spout out things before thinking about them. Dan and John do an excellent job of giving us plenty of opportunities to play in a competitive, fun league so don't think I'm slamming them at all. I'm just suggesting things... that's what people do when you are trying to get things changed in a positive way! I have actually gone back in the booth after i got off the pitcher's mound and updated the score before. Ok, well I'm done. I didn't mean to rant, so I'm sorry if it comes across that way. There ARE too many complainers here... I'm not one of them. Suggestions are the only way they know there is any kind of problem to change. Anyway...go ahead...slander me :)

| Everyone has a good point. In my opinion, the scorekeeping has not been very good. If im correct with the numbers, each team paid $68 to have a scorekeeper at every game. Whether they want to be there or not they do get paid. If im going to pay $68 for something, I would like if it functioned correctly. I think it would be better to drop the scorekeeper fee and keep our own books.

| I am sorry for violating the grammer laws, thank God the grammer police is present to keep us all in line. C, I understand what you are saying and if you are who I think you are you are always helpful and very professional with your comments. I am sorry if it seemed my comment was diricted at you, it wasnt. It is just a pet peeve of mine. B, I also understand what you are saying, but since people do not want to spend their evenings keeping score, we have to deal with what we have.

| C, I know exactly which score keeper you're talking about. Two weeks ago I stayed after my games and helped her keep score for 2 games because it was obvious she was having trouble getting it right. Since then I have played 4 more games where she was the score keeper. Each of the last 4 games I was glad I kept my own book. Having spent 2 games assisting her score keep I've realized where she has difficulty. Whenever the pace of the game is moving quickly and multiple runners move around the bases, she falls behind. She has improved a lot since I last helped her 2 weeks ago. SHE IS COMPETENT AND CAPABLE OF BEING A SCORE KEEPER. For now I think we just need to be aware when she needs more time to keep caught up. Whether it's confirming she registered the runs as they happen or giving her more time between innings to get the runs up, I think she can do a fine job score keeping if we just give her a little more time.

| LBowles & GBaer, you are right... thanks for your input. the only thing with giving her more time is the umpire is urging everyone to "hustle in, hustle out" and "batter up" and everything so giving her more time really does not work because there have been a few instances where the score was not right and if we start the inning like that, to go back and complain later upsets the other team a little! haha and if you sit there and try to get it right, everyone gets mad at you like you're stalling or something! haha... it's really a no win situation.

| Just my input solely as a player.
There is always a learning curve for anyone new to something. I don't know who it is that is keeping score but I'm sure they're doing their best.
One little thing to keep in mind while new people learn. The thing that matters is that they eventually get it right. If it's in doubt, ask the umpire what the score is on your way out to the field or coming in to the dugout. That won't slow you down.
