| Dear John et al,
The college from which I graduated hosts the National Basketball Hall of Fame, I've written a paper about Dr. James Naismith and I own an autographed book from John Wooden. In the early 90's, I was the court announcer for both Mt.SAC's and Cal Poly Pomona's basketball teams. I remember Magic's baby sky hook to put away the Celtics and Tyus Edney's drive, complete with a behind the back dribble at half court, ending with a bank shot to lift the Bruins past upset-minded Missouri in 1995, and I appreciated a left-handed layup.
So, no, it has nothing to do with my lack of love for basketball.
It's all about numbers. In the wake of budget concerns we were asked to present budgets with guaranteed results. Two sports had histories of inconsistency. Sometimes we'd have great numbers, sometimes we had to subsidize them to have a league. Both of these sports needed three staff members two officials and one game monitors. Unfortunately, it was an obvious call.
I'm hoping to find a way to include these sports again, but we'll have to make some adjustments. Perhaps smaller numbers on the court, like three on three and one official, or maybe a 40+ options. I'd like to hear some constructive ideas by February.
What say you?

| i think it has to do with consistency over anything from you guys first. i can easily get 6 teams to commit. We have the players and talent unfortunatly when youre constantly guessing if theres a league or not it makes you look else where. two summers ago was the best turn out infact we had 12 teams. i think we could back to that with a littlee help and making sure they know this league is here to stay. I can get you anyhwere from 6 to 10 teams for a league but it wont do anyhting for you if the next league gets canceled again. interested??

| John, it's easy to go back and see what was offered for basektball. It rotated with volleyball for gym space. We'd offer a basketball league then a volleyball league and repeat. It would be in the Rec Pages and we had an email list. Sometimes there would not be enough sign-ups, so we could not offer a league. That's where the inconsistency arose. Going from 13 to 5 and/or back again. So we didn't have numbers on which we could rely. Like I said before, we hope to bring back basketball in a format that is consistently popular and doesn't require as much expense.
